I think it was sometime in1870's but then again there is still debate about who actually invented it and what not so one could argue were not excatly sure I know bell is the common answer, but an italian fella had enough claim to it that in the early 2000s us courts recognized his contributions blaaaah

Alexander Graham Bell invented the phone, not some Italian Armin, dont take it away from our Isles ;D. He was only 29 when he invented it, and a year after he invented it he set up his own company called Bell Telephone Company
