Default Corley vs Mccloskey stoppage- terrible

Anyone see this one? Horrible stoppage. Mccloskey was hurt but seriously, what's with some of these early stoppages?

He was out on his feet one more punch he would have been pole axed, ref got it right, don't want
the guy getting hurt for the sake of it, he walked out the ring a lot better than being carried out.

My first reaction was good stoppage, his legs had gone and he looked spent, but maybe he could have pulled through. id say good stoppage.

It was early but I think if the ref let it go on Corley would have put him to sleep.
In the end it was a good call looking at the way Corley was ready to jump on him and Mccloskey was hurt bad his whole body was shaking whilst he stood and in the post fight interview he was still dazed.

i didn't see the post fight interview , but still seemed early to me. Corley is a interesting fighter. If he had training camps , like the top fighters do , he could still beat some good fighters

I read about this one on boxingscene and the reporter seemed to believe it was a terrible stoppage and said McCloskey was still punching back at the time the ref jumped in.

    Anyone got a video ?

I have to say I'm very happy for Corley. Such a tough guy, with deceptive punching power. He rocked the shit out of Miguel Cotto and Floyd Mayweather, hurt them both pretty bad. That was a looong time ago tho.

I thought it was a fantastic stoppage... the fact I backed Corley at 10/1 clearly has no bearing on my opinion. Fact.

I thought he was going to just give him an 8 count. He kind of stepped in because Mckloskey was taking a beating, then realised he wasn't as bad as he thought, but had already jumped between the fighters and didn't know what else to do.

Mckloskey didn't look anywhere near world class anyway.

Definitely happy for Corley. He also provides for about 14 kids I think I remember hearing? Maybe less but a fair amount none the less. I can't remember the story exactly but I know they're all not his (obviously) so bringing up that many is noble in its own right. (and probably why he is still fighting)

Yes I believe its 12 total or least 8 ?

I remember hearing he had to provide for his brother's kids after his brother was murdered.

He's a noble warrior for sure, even if he does like to wear ladies underwear...

The ref did him a favour. He was about to get badly KOd but can now claim that the fight shouldn't have been stopped. People will be much more likely to buy tickets for his next fight than if he'd been flattened.
