    Default Matthew Hatton

I think this fella needs some recognition, alright didnt really have the skill or power to really make an impact but put up some good shows

highlights were goimg the distance with Canelo and canelo was a weight above him on the scales

he also went the distance with kell brook and put up a good fight

hatton took a lot of critisizm during his career, i think those who layed it on should revisit their feelings and give the man a clap

He did what he could with what he had and thats fair enough. He should have been a Mayweather opponent.

He never had the talent that his brother did, didn't have the offensive power or the style to generate big ticket sales.

But he had very good technical skills, good heart and was one of the people that boxing is REALLY built on.

    A good gatekeeper fighter.

I don't think anyone has ever been anything but fair to Hatton Mark II?

He had a decent career and gave his all against some World class opposition. His achievements are dwarfed by his brothers obviously but without his brother he might not have been in some of the fights he was in. Premier league no, but a solid championship fighter no doubt. Shame he never won a British title, I think that would have meant more than the EBU and intertoto stuff he won. There were some pretty tasty Brit Welters around at the time though.

Extremely durable and game... maybe he should have fought Mayweather and Pac instead. Maybe those who went to Pac fight would have had the time to finish their overpriced arena hotdogs.

Durable but to be honest think he did alright in terms of fights/money/recognition compared to his ability.
His brother promoted the shit out of him.

For a second there I thought the title read Matthew Hilton and I was about to go into a miniature tirade.

Solid guy and I cant begin to imagine what is was like to stand in the shadows of his brother to the extent he did. The perseverance is admirable. I doubt the average Joe or any of us Monday morning quarterbacks could handle it.

Mathew had a better chin that Ricky, doubt if Ricky would have survived Canelo.

    different styles tho

ricky plowed forward and took a lot more punches

plus ricky had a very good chin, the bombs he took against Tzu

by the time he fought his biggest fights his punch resistance was going

I think Canelo's performance against Matthew , showed us that he had no chance of beating Floyd.

But he sure as hell knew how to hold like his brother. It's because of that skill why he was able to go 12 with Alvarez

I always likes Matty Hatton, he never professed to be brilliant he just got in there and did what he good against some pretty good opponents, I had this conversation with my old boss a while back and said he deserved a fair bit of respect, good little fighter and he was always good to test the up and coming boxers.
