    Default Box rec

So I usually like to go on Box rec and check out who is doing what or what possible match-ups are upcoming. Then I check out the Supermiddleweight's and see that Kelly Pavlik is ranked fifth. Now I have to ask myself did he fight anyone at 168 yet? Did he announce he was moving up yet? No. So why the hell is he ranked fifth ? If anyone can clear this up for me that would be great.

Here's why he's in Super Middleweight : Where does Kelly Pavlik Rank at Super Middleweight?

And about the 5th rank, it's because of the way Boxrec rating work. He got 533 point, which place him at the 5th place.

that's exactly right, they lump a fighter in a weight class, but the points are where the rank comes from, there is a whole formula for them to get the points.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Yes, there's no logic or thinking behind Boxrec's ranking. It's a formula that decide how much point you gain/lose during a match.

SalTheButcher posted a really detailed thread about how the rating work : http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...ings-work.html
