    Default The Enzo

The man with the coolest name in boxing has somehow managed to get himself a European title shot, despite losing 3 of his last 6.

BBC Sport - Enzo Maccarinelli awarded Euro title shot

I haven't a clue who he is fighting, but from what research I've done he looks on a hiding to nothing.

Good luck to him, it has been all down hill since the Haye defeat.

I like Enzo, he is an alright guy, I think this is crunch time now and he needs to train his fucking arse off. He was in great form in the Haye fight I hope he can get there again.

Frank Warren said he'd hlp him get back to the top and put him in the ring with two tomato cans who each took less than a round to lose. Now for some reason he's putting him in with an undefeated cruiser somewhere in Russia in a "bye bye Enzo" fight. They must have had a falling out.

Don't know anything about the opponent but his record suggests Enzo is going to get sparked again.

    Agreed

enzo was a decent operator once who put on some decent performances on calzaghe undercards

But his chin just seems to of cut out on him. He shouldnt be in with anything above british level nowadays

Enzo's career would have been nowhere near as big without the Calzaghe connection.

If he loses this he should really finish. He was never at the top of the sport but at his best would take guys like this and Lebedev, that fight was real worrying as he just seemed to stop trying completely.

Good luck to Enzo he is a good guy and made for some exciting fights but his chin does seem to have gone to put. Didn't he ditch Enzo Calzaghe for a different trainer?

It wasn't just his punch resistance that went after he left Calzaghe though, a lot of his skill and will to win was lost. Gotta give Calzaghe credit for that and hope he returns to training soon. Don't think these 2 will ever link back up though, I think a lot of it was to do with Warren and Calzaghes fallout.

The guy seems to be at least very decent in every department except that the chin has been left vacant... and against tougher competition, it's quite handy to have someone managing that one... I only hope for him he won't sustain serious damage ...

What is it with boxing today, and so many guys seem to be in the last chance saloon every time they fight. Audley showed last week that a decent punch can dig a guy out of a hole, hopefully Enzo's trainer has got his defence tightened up, and he does have some power in those fists.

The most likely situation is that he'll get sparked and will once again be looking at retirement, but the European title is a big belt, and if he does find the bingo shot he may get himself out of that saloon once more.
