I hope this is true, there can be no way of finishing his career off better than the Pavlik performance.
I'd be gutted if Hopkins retires. He still has atleast a couple more fighters to school before he goes. I say he should wait for the froch taylor result, if froch wins then give him a schooling. Would like to see that fight....
If this is true, I'd agree that it's a good point to stop. The man has nothing left to prove - in fact, he's proven a lot about what a properly motivated boxer can accomplish. To be taking people to school, at his age, is beyond impressive.
The problem isn't worth it enough as a fight. The only realistic ones were Dawson (he doesn't want to fight him because doesn't want to go out with loss/ruin another US fighter), Calzaghe (retired) or Adamek (would have to be getting loads of money out of it which Adamek doesn't guarantee).
If Froch wins the fact is there will be people who will just say he only beat a shot Taylor. Personally I can't stand Froch & hope he gets beat, but I will give him his due should he win.
I read that Tito Trinidad is being offered $15 million to fight Hopkins by Don King.
Hopefully Hopkins retires now so that mis match can't happen.
Well, if thats true and you are Trinidad, you do everything possible to make that figh happen, regardless of whether you think you can win, who has the right in this recession to turn down that sort of money fvor a very short amount of work!!
Actually sorry to see him go.Though at times he frustrated the ever loving shite out of me with his 'patience' in later years and theatrics.A great fighter regardless.Did it his way, totally. Why do I have the sneaking suspicion that team Hopkins might just be stirring the waters.I think he can beat Adamek, nice fight.
good way to go after the pavlik fight. defo an all time great, one of the smartest boxers of all time
Kellys my favourite fighter and if im being honest he didnt look himself that night against b hop, but at the end of the day hopkins did school him and that is that. I am also a big hopkins fan and would love him to retire, because even though he could still beat alot of fighters, his last fight would be a great swansong for him.
Ill miss him if he retired today, tomorrow, or in two years. So now is as good a time as any to call it quits. He shouldnt have to wait to get old in the ring in order to decide to retire. Thats when irreversible damage occurs.
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
It is a negotiation ploy and he will fight Tito.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I'll believe it when I see it.
He'll fight again.
yeahh ^^^
it wudnt be bad if he retirred cuz hes got nothin to prove
but i wud luv to see him fight again
