They were both long counts but douglas was knocked out. So tyson should of remained champ.
Buster got up and continued, Mike was completely out with his mouthpiece hanging out of his mouth like a porkchop.
Mike got his ass whipped.
Look at the 4 sec mark on the Douglas side, and you'll see like I said: the timekeeper's fingers in white gloves indicating the count, yet Mehran doesn't pick up the timekeeper's count but starts his own count instead a couple seconds late.
At the timekeeper's official count of 4, Buster punches the canvas in frustration.
I think Buster could've got up sooner if he had to, but he took full advantage of ref mehran's count which is a good move for a fighter.
Tyson got a long count too which I never noticed before.
They were both on their feet at 13 seconds (mehran's 9).
No way Tyson would've got to his feet in 9 seconds, not on queer street the way he was.
I think Buster was capable of getting up a few seconds earlier but chose to take full advantage of the count.
Good find on the splitscreen clip, brocktonblockbust.

that kinda lays to rest the controversy of long count. they each got the same count.
the difference was mike was judged to be done and buster was judged to be able to continue.
great post!
The disgraceful thing was that they were trying to rob Douglas of his victory the WBC and King sunk to a new low.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
