Default 5 year Old Boxing Prodigy UK - Future World Champion

My son has been touted as very talented boxer at the age of 5 by my friends and Kick Boxing trainer. Hes only 5 years old soon to be 6 in July 08. I need some advice from fellow boxers, trainers and advisors who can help me nuture my son and whether you share my opinion and judgement.

Hes already attending Kickboxing classes 3 times a week(no boxing club will take him at this age so I have found a alternative in kickboxing) and is sparring with 8 year olds already. The trainer there has said you have a future world champion on your hand and he needs to be nutured correctly. I have done my research and have started to control what hes eating (I have to because he gets very hyperactive when he eats certain foods that have 'E' flavourings) and also have been working on his jabs, hooks, uppercuts etc at home.

Check him out on Youtube, offers already coming in:

I reckon I have a future champion on my hand here and i need to ensure his early development is good. Please can someone help, advise and give me some feedback on his talent or whether I am wasting my time.

He's 5 for goodness sakes. Don't push it on him too much, or he'll likely get bored of it and resent it.

Make sure your reasoning for doing this.

    Offers coming in? lol

    Agree with youngblood

    He is 5!!

he may grow up to be a Ballet Dancer

keeping him off the E numbers is a good thing anyway

Keep him interested in sport in general football will help his balance, Rugby will help his Bottle keep him going to boxing as long as he enjoys it, but don't keep telling him he is going to be a world champion if he gets knocked cold in the playground for gobbin off it will be your fault.

feedback on his talent or whether I am wasting my time.
If he is enjoying it you are not wasting your time and it doesn't matter whether he has talent or not, If I tell you he has a sloppy defence and shit footwork will you stop him playing

there is no rush if he is still keen at 12 then start looking for good trainers

For now let him go play with his mates

"The trainer there has said you have a future world champion on your hand and he needs to be nutured correctly." Please tell me you meant to say nurtured? Don't force the issue or he will be burnt out by the time he's ten. Let him take some classes or something, also you don't want your kid working out alot at 5 or his muscles may not develop fully.

Very good for a 5 year old. But just remember, like the others said you don't want to force anything on him. He's got to want it for his self as well, you can't just want it for him.

Not trying to draw a comparison here, but not long ago there was a similar one going around with a 6 year old. Same kinda deal. Before long there was a' donate' function direct to paypal there. It made my stomach turn.

    Was exploitation, basically.

Not suggesting this is your case adamsuperkid, I think you are likely a boxing fan who is excited about his son and the prospect of him boxing, and he does look good, ya know, for a 5 year old. I do know I got force fed hockey early in my life, and I ended up refusing to go because I ended up hating it, and then felt bad about it. Like I let my family down. (It's a canadian thing)

I am 14 now and got introduced to boxing around 11-12. Love it and am learning as my body develops. My coaches say it is a good age.

    Anyway, wish your son luck.
