James is a great trainer. He knows exactly what a fighter needs to do in the ring. and what not to do. Buddy knows how to get a fighter in the best possible shape mentally and physically , but ultimately its up to the fighter to take that knowledge and apply it. Like the old saying goes " you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink it" !

I think McGirt is a good trainer but the only reason why it seems like its been a while since his fighters have won a fight are because, Gatti, Tarver and Amaju got demolished in their last 3 fights. Well nm, it seems like a long time i retract my statement. It has been a long time.

Trainers are only as good as the fighters they train. McGirt hasnt had the opportunity to train a natually talented fighter yet.

i personly think that he trains too many damn fighters. everytime i turn around he's in the damn conern. if buddy retired right now boxing would be shut down.

i've always said the fighter that will really tell if he's a good trainer will be his son.

No I disagree. some Kids don't listen to their parents, infact i know first hand that they ( Jr. & Sr.) go back and forth as the younger Mcgirt does everything opposite of what papa says do. not a good fair gauge .

I think he's good, but overrated. And you can add Brewster to that list of his fighters that lost. I am just stuck on his strategy for Gatti against PBF. I really don't get what they were thinking. Gatti's only shot was to rough him up, not outbox him.

gatti did at one point try to rough PBF up. PBF did a quick little side step and it was over before it started.

Sometimes it works if you staple their nostrils shut and then dunk their heads in a barrel of water.

i think that McGirt is having an off year for sure his 2 biggest fighters already lost this year and then a couple others as well, and all three have been ugly losses

    Tarver
    Gatti
    Ajamu

Ajamu isnot a McGirt fighter.....He was just working the corner for the Jones fight...Buddy said it himself Ajamu works out at Buddy's Gym and he gives his camp some pointers....But is not an official McGirt fighter(From Buddy's own admittance)

it looks to me when a fighter is behind and really needs to be told something, buddy seems complascent and just wants them to survive - never really encouraging them to dig deep

granted theres always a time and place for that, just not every damn fight
