u could say this fight showed mike was more than just a puncher.
he could take a big punch, and then come back and punch some more, and as in this case, go on to flatten the other guy.

apart from stunning tyson in round 1 momentarily it was all one way traffic. tyson was slightly stunned but continued fighting back.i remember tucker stunning tyson with an uppercut too in 87.

yea he was i didnt see him jab much against tony tucker either in 1987 and that was when he was in his *prime* bruno hurt him bad if he had that real killer instinct like tyson he could of caused real trouble for him when he staggered him but oh well but that first round was loads of action in that 1 st round good round of heavyweight action

watching that fight with the sound off I don't see Tyson get stunned.

But Tyson didn't look like he used to to me, I've seen his old fights but right there he looks one dimensional just winging hooks and big shots looking for the KO and Tyson in his quote unquote prime. Would set traps, was defensively sound, would set you up for combinations and not just one big shot winging away like he is against Bruno.

Frank got a lot of mileage out of that punch.

It's not surprising that there was such a hoopla about that punch.

Circa 1989, Tyson was considered to be unbeatable & invincible.

He was being talked of as the greatest HW ever.

He would have been odds on favourite against the whole United States Army simultaneously had they arranged the contest, so it's no surprise that Bruno got a lot of mileage out of it.

There was a lot of turmoil in Tyson's life before the Bruno fight. It was originally scheduled for England but he had marriage problems, suicide attempts, street fights ect. Tyson looked poor for the first time as a champion in the fight and were the signs that his lifestyle was going to cost him his greatness, legacy, fame and fortune.

Mike had got hit happy at that stage, he had already started to neglect defence because his punching was still at its best. When the ability to punch faded, this neglect was penalised.

It was a great hook, and if Tyson didn't have one of the best chins i ever seen it would have been lights out for Tyson. Not to mention Bruno never did have the heart to go in for the kill.

There's a little clubbing right just before the left hook that's a decent punch as well. Frank just wasn't good enough to capitalise but he certainly shook Tyson.

I was gutted that Smith beat Witherspoon to get that fight. Witherspoon would have tested Tyson, I reckon a focussed Witherspoon could have won that fight.
