Default FNF: Teddy Reid vs Richard Guittarez, lets get ready to rumble!!!!

Teddy Reid is starring in another main event on FNF, once again as the opponent. This time for Roberto Duran hand picked welterweight prospect Richard Guittarez. Guittarez's lone loss is to Joshua Clottey in a very exciting close fight. Surly he is the favorite to beat Reid. But other guys have been favored to beat Reid too. I'm expecting one hell of a fight, this is probably the last hurrah for the aging wild man Reid, and I expect him to go out swinging like he always does. Anybody else excited about this fight. I think its gonna rock!!!

Though I watch tons of championship fights.. I tend to have no time during the week to watch anything else at specific times so I don't have much input on either.

Never seen Reid but Guiterrez' bout with Clottey was pretty good for 4 or 5 rounds before Clottey blew him away. I'll be watching it though. Richard never stops, always going forward. He is a tall fighter but prefers to fight on the inside. Throws a lot of punches. Not to hard to hit keeps his hands pretty low on the inside. Should be a good fight.

Well Reid didn't go down swinging, he went down fakin a nut shot. It was a hell of a fight while it lasted though. Guittarez did hit Reid low, in the hip below the belt for sure, but not in the family jewels. Then Reid goes down and pleads with the ref tellin him he was hit low, the ref just goes right on counting him out anyway and though Reid made it up at the count of ten, the ref still waved it off. Pissed me off immensely. What a shatty end to what was shaping up to be a very good fight. I blame the ref and Reid. The shot was low, BUT once Teddy saw he was bein counted out he should have gotten up sooner. Fuked up fight IMO, Guittarez looked to definately be winning and probably woulda stopped Reid legit, but still, fuked fight. :P

Are you serious?? Look at Reid head to his corner the end of the rd before... It was all over, he would have been stopped very soon no question. Good that it ended this way and he wasn't hurt more seriously.

Yeah I'm serious. Reid had backed off Guitarrez with his powr a couple times, Reid is nobody's victim. For a warrior like Reid, its better to go out on your shield than go out faking a nut shot.

But he made that choice, because he knew he had nothing else to offer.. Sure he had backed Guiterrez off several times, perhaps even rocked him, but his best moments were in the opening couple minutes of the fight and from then on he was getting hit more and more with less and less to offer. I realize the guy is a warrior but I was just adressing your comment that it was shaping up to be a good fight... It was a good fight, but it was shaping up to be a month in the hospital for Reid.

A month? Eh..more like a quick painless KO. Or had Reid been given the time to "recover" from the low blow, he would have come out swining like mad for one last hurrah and possibly KO'd Guittarez. It was a very unglorious and premature stoppage IMO. I hear ya that Reid was probably gonna take a beating and lose but still it was a bizarre and crappy stoppage. I didn't like it one bit.

Pretty much. I actually was rooting for Reid in that one which I almost never do but you could tell from the beginning that his legs weren't there.

    Agree with you both.

Reid hasn't looked like Teddy Reid since he came down from 154 to fight Cintron.

I think that was a major factor. You talk about what happened to Roy Jones..

Well Teddy Reid was going up to 154 to fight Vernon Forrest.

he was scheduled to do that for the HBO undercard.

But a week before that event Forrest pulled out witrh an injury, so Kermit Cintron got the spot.

During that time, Reid had to get down to 147 from 154 in about a week's time.

And since then, he hasn't looked at all like the Teddy Reid we knew. I think that took his legs and changed him as a fighter, sad thing.
