Default Thanks For A Great Career Johnny Tapia

One of the greatest fighters New Mexico has ever produced and one of the greatest boxers of the past few decades has ended his career in his hometown with a majority decision over game Evaristo Primero. Tapia has stood for everything a champion should, putting his heart into every second of every fight and overcoming adversity in and out of the ring. A true class act and and one of the most respectable men to ever enter the ring. He is one of of my all time favorite fighters and has been great for the sport. Good luck to him and I hope he enjoys life to the fullest as he deserves it.

So glad he went out on his own terms, crazy confusion on the opponent but sounded like a show!

    Happy retirement Johnny.

    What an entertainer.
His son should be starting out his career soon so there'll probably be some eyes on him in the near future. Much luck to the fam.

ICB you don't know what your missing...Win or Lose Johnny is one of those guys you can't help but to root for....All macho all the way....Never took an easy route...Johnny never gave a dull performance...Not the most skilled fighter in terms of tehchnical skills but a show stopper none the less...He is one of those guys that other fighters should take notice of and follow his lead because Johnny never was the type who just wanted a win...Johnny wanted to fight because thats what his job was and thats what he got paid for....

His personal life had it's up and downs but you know what who's hasn't....I respect him because he is a man who never made excuses for ANYTHING....He was always the first to admit his wrongs and you can't help but respect a man like that.....

Mi Vida Loca.... For him it certainly has been indeed and I for one am appreciative for the fact he allowed us to be part of it

A pure fighter, he had that "jungle intensity" I'd liken to Duran. Crazy as hell, but an entertainer. He'll be missed.
