so sad hearing things like this, guys like johnny have so much to offer, like tyson i think they would be best off keeping busy with their time, mentoring young boxers going around c'ing these guy train talking to them helping them along - it would be rgeat for the sport and them selves, they would feel like they are worth something again...
Hope he pulls through, never good when you hear these things about guys like this.
Hope Tapia pulls through ok he has gave us all some great fights to watch a true warrior i agree with PREME here Tapia and Tyson are very similar they do need things to keep them busy or they just go crazy Tapia has had a really hard life he must struggle to keep his mind in a happy place and its such a shame he needs medical help fast he must be manic depressive or something hope he pulls through and hope he gets all the help he needs
Reading the title made me sick to my stomach. I thought he was past this Good luck to getting past this Johnny. He's never been in a dull fight, such a character.
Johnny once said he didn't think he'll ever stop doing drugs. He said he was willing to try for his wife. But he didn't know if he could. Or even wanted to. Why? The drugs keep the nightmares away.
they keep them away for a while, then they make them worse.Originally Posted by Violent Demise
Because he's unconscious in a hospital right now. Pretty good reason to stop don't you think?Originally Posted by Violent Demise

I'm sure it has to do with the fact that his career has come to a conclusion. I remember him saying that boxing made him feel alive, boxing made him feel he had a purpose to live..... Now that his career is over I'm sure he thinks his life is done.... Sad really great person to others and a great sportsman IMO......
And yeah! his book is great also the new Roberto Duran book is great....
I've only recently learned a bit about his life story... Had always heard how much he had overcome... But jeez... It's really amazing that he even accomplished as much as he did in the sport, with all the baggage he carried with him... I suppose like CMM said, boxing made him feel alive, it was an escape for him.... But still, it's incredible that he wasn't more adversly affected in the ring by his lifestyle. Yikes, anyways I hope he makes a recovery, but even if so you have to wonder if he can ever turn things around.. There should be a movie made about this man.
