I'd have to argue that the majority of fans are biased and often will not give credit where credit is due if they dislike a guy. A LOT of people dislike Floyd and will be very reluctant to give him his just credit (if any).

Ali fought in maybe the greatest era of heaveyweights ever
Leanord fought in an era of Duran,Hagler, and Hearns
    Robinson fought everyone
All three of them had legandary battles against unbelievable opponents
Sorry Floyd,a unanimous decision against Zab Judah doesnt exactly cut it.
Of course Tyson tried to say something similar awhile back
The fact that every champ when theyre feeling arrogant tries to compair themselves to the great ones,is the real measure of why they ARE the great ones
Hey Floyd,20 years from now,you think the next one is going to be compairing themselves to you?

What unbelievable opponent did Robinson have? Lamotta, Fulmer, Olson, and the rest of them wouldn't have made it in any other era from Leonard to now at Middleweight. They were slow, unathletic, tough brutes.

As for Floyd not being great...I dont see how he is not.The way I see it...Ali,Hagler,Tyson,Foreman,SRL(up until Floyd said that he would have beat him),RJJ,and Julio C Chavez have all been quoted as saying that he is "Great".

And the point is,he fought everybody out there. And if the fans thought a guy gave him a good fight,he'd go fight him again

at any weight below 154 I would side with you on this one.......but I think 154 is going to be like LTMW was to SRR...too much.....and Duran was better than anybody PBF has fought to date...rarely will I ever defend SRL but I have to on this one......He is still undefeated so far.....but all that changes with a loss....it's about how you're remember after a loss...and what you did after it that make great fighters.....or being undefeated....
It feels good to be back home.

My god! How anyone could possibly side with Floyd in this one is beyond me. Floyd...not now...not even IF he beats Oscar...can be mentioned in the same breath as Leonard, Robinson, or Ali...not even remotely close. Outside of him ending his career with some memorable matches...Floyd will leave no legacy. Sorry people...those are the FACTS. History remember the fighters that have provided lasting memories. Whether it's Floyd's fault or not...he has not provided a single enduring moment that one can look back on many years from now. Floyd is just arrogant...so i don't let what he says bother me too much. But for boxing fans...supposedly intelligent ones...to actually think that the nonsense Floyd spews out is actually reasonable/logical...is hilarious and frustrating to me.

So if people are gonna hate him anyways, he's gonna do the best he can to maximize that arrogance that his haters despise so much.
His fans tune in to see him win, his haters will tune in to see if his next fight will be the fight where he gets his head knocked off.
    He's a smart business man.
Nicely said. This is one of the reasons why we watch his fights..... if he can prove his arrogance.

Well, Ali was not exactly a quiet man, but I think most of the people recognize him as one of all times greatest and probably among best 3, with many people having him as # 1.

But until he beat Ellis, and Quarry, and Frazier, and Foreman, etc, etc, commentators viewed those proclamations as more humorous then serious

People on the forum are the main ones who doubt his greatness.

Right now is as close as Floyd is going to get to greatness. Fighting Oscar will only hurt his legacy unless he dominates, he will get paid well but has everything to lose.
