Default Eamonn Magee v Kevin Anderson - British Welterweight Title

    Evnin All,

Sorry for the late arrival, I was carrying out depraved acts elsewhere, and have literally just bouced through the door, plonked meself on the seat and whacked the telly on.
What we have tonight is the young Scot Kevin Anderson, coming off his first defeat, a shock SD against Ali Nuumbembe in February for his commonwealth title.
Magee is on his latest revival in his career, and although 35 years old....11 older than his opponent is very experienced, and has never been stopped. Should be an interesting battle....starting in about ten minutes or so.

Magee is 27-5, 17 KOs, with defeats against Hatton, Takaloo and Urkal on his list, while Anderson is 18-1, 11 KOs, with his biggest win coming over Young Muttley last year.

    Nice one Rhun

Ive got Anderson on points. Magge is going to have to seriously turn the clock back to get any joy out of this one.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

I've been looking forward to this one. They just showed the pics of Magee's leg after that attack, and that is bloody horrible. Gotta give him props for coming back from those injuries, but also to Anderson for picking this guy as his comeback fight. I really think that Magee has a chance at this one, he's a bigger name than anyone ANderson has faced before and I reckon Magee might grab a stoppage.

Is that Jim Rock in the Magee corner? Anderson got a decent reception from the Scottish crowds. Magee gets booed a bit but that won't bother an old warhorse like him. The announcer said he was from 'Beautiful Belfast'

I forgot to mention that Anderson is defending this title, which he won from Young Muttley in the previously mentioned fight.

    Round 1:

Anderson looking to come in with a tight guard, and plants some body shots early doors. Lunging jab, and Magee with a counter. Magee powers a right into anderson's chest. And again. Magee picking thatjab well. Anderson coming forward, and covers up well under three shots from Magee. Two Anderson body shots then a clinch. Nice left from Magee. Nice body shot, Magee cathces the jab on the gloves, thaen an uppercut dug into Magee's forehead from ANderson. More body shos from Anderson. Jab and a body shot from Magee.

Anderson the better looking, but then so he was in the last appearance.

    10-9 to the Scot

    Round 2:

Nce jab gets through....but Aderson quite cagey as the shorter man. Magee lands a body shot. Right hook from Magee as Anderson comes forward. Nice straight right, but Anderson then misses a left hook. Magee looking to bring in the hard left. Anderson getting caught more now, good jabs, and some decent left hooks, but none caught flush. Great right hook from Anderson, and Magee backs on the ropes. Lands a body shot, but Magee sidesteps to the right, and shoots him a grin. Magee's back to throwing the hard lefts. Swings and misses from a right hook, but Anderson lands anohter hard right.

    Both did well enough.
20-19 and a tied round for my mind.

    Round 3:

Cagey opening, but Anderson loops a right hook from way out in the field. Magee's jab is still effective, and now looking to come forard himself. Walks through an Anderson jab to land a hard left of his own. Body shot from Anderson. Good right hook counter from Magee, and Anderson shakes his jowls a bit. Two jabs ad a body shot from Anderson. Hook and a body shot catches Maggee. Magee looking for the jab,jab hook cobo, twice in a row. Anderson lands a left of his own, and is returned in kind by Magee. A bit of wrestling in there.

Magee did the more damage, and Anderson finding the guard with his punches a little more often.

    Round 4:

Anderson with a good opening, some body shots, and a hard right to the face. Nice flurry from Abderson, but Magee composes himself and pops in some jabs of hi own. Good hand movement from Anderson. Counter right from Anderson, and Magee looks a little uncomfortable. Anderson lands a left hook as a weak jab from Magee fails to make an impact. Anderson lunges in with a long jab, and gets three clips to the head with short hooks by Magee. Nice jab hook from Anderson, as the pendulum swings back to his favour. He's jabbing and moving Magee. Another strong flurry as Anderson lands some body shots, but gets clipped himself.

    Anderson edges ahead again.

    Round 5:

Magee throws in a straight left through the Andeson guard. Magee also gets Anderson with a counter right. Good work by Anderson, coming forward with jabs and body shots, and lands a right hook to the head coming out of the clinch. Anderson ducks under a Magee jab with a body shot. Magee's jab not quite long enough to land. Nice jab right from Magee, and Anderson ploughs forward, and a swift sidestep from MAgee gets him out of that corner. Good jab and left hook from Magee, but Anderson replies charging forward with hooks, one landing to the body.

    Anderson again.

    Round 6:

The opening to each round is a cagey affair, and this is no differnt, with lots of rolling of hands and half-jabs. 40 seconds and no decent punches. Good straight left from MAgee. Another one as well. Magee's jabbing accurately as well, with Anderson not doiung much at the moment. Good hooks land from Magee as Anderson comes in. Hard right from Anderson as Magee comes in,. Magee's jabbing, but another hard right from Anderson. Wild hook misses, but as Magee recoves simultaneous rights land. Anderson with body shots. Magee's the harder worker and more accurate that session.

58-57 my mistake last round in counting...sorry folks

    Round 7:

McRory has Anderson 5 rounds ahead, but that's a bit extreme. Anderson ducks another jab hook from Magee. If we could cut out the first minute and turn this into 12x2's it might be more exciting. Anderson looks to ping in hard unches as Magee covers up. Magee's jab is heavy, and gets through, Good jhab hook from Anderson as Magee comes forward. Two decent rights from Anderson. Magee lands a counter as Anderson comes in. Two jabs and a hook from Anderson.

    Anderson's round.

    Round 8:

This one's proving to be a bit of a chessmatch. Cautious jabs from both men, before Anderson loops a haymaker right and comes nowhere near landing. Magee's poppiing out that jab frequntly enough. Nice body shot from Anderson,, but a good flurry of MAgee, finds the top of Anderson's head, but Anderson's guard is decent. Body shot from Anderson, then he reverts to the jab. Lunging jab from Anderson lands, and they clinch. A hard right hook from Anderson looks good, and Magee's not doing too mugch. Anderson leads with a right then a big left hook on the ropes. Body shot from Magee.

    Anderson workrate edges it.

    78-75

    Round 9:

Corners trying to focus Anderson. Body shots from Anderson, but Magee sprins some jabs, and a good hook of his own. ANderson putting in body shots, and coming forward. Jab, body shot from Magee. Magee is doing a bit more now, jabs, hooks and uppercuts, but not quite landing flush. Body shots from Anderson, but not as fierce as before. Two wild swinging hooks from Anderson allows Magee to dodge with ease.Anderson with a right, but Magee with a decent hook lands. Big left from ANderson, but a hard straight right from Magee also looks good. Body shot from Anderson.

Magee had the edge there. 87-85 Anderson
