He had a terrible run with fighters a couple of years back, it seemed like most of the fighters he was training were losing. And it just wasn't that his fighters were losing they were getting destroyed like Arturo Gatti vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr. , Antonio Tarver vs. Bernard Hopkins, and Joel Julio vs. Carlos Quintana. And in the last two fights, his fighter was heavily favored. Plus he trained Prince Badi Ajamu for his fight against Roy Jones Jr and Paulie Malignaggi for his fight against Miguel Cotto. For awhile there it seemed like all Buddy McGirt trained fighters were losing. He has also been criticized by some boxing fans for giving terrible advice in fights.

But fighters still choose to train with him so that has to mean something. I just think he's a little over eager when it comes to training fighters, willing to work in any corner for any fight. He did train vernon for his showdown with baldomir and he currently trains Paulie Malignaggi. So it looks like the tide may be turning.

Well written but the only thing I would like to point out is that he did help Gatti make a 180 in style after the first Ward fight. For the next 5 fights he easily handled the competition by boxing instead of brawling.

Gatti's big mistake was boxing floyd instead of returning to his roots. Now before all the mayweather fans start bashing me for saying anything about their hero, I'm not saying Gatti would have won, I'm just saying he would have had a better chance and that was the big drama leading up to the fight....would he brawl or not.

Yeah I never understand why fighters try to outbox Floyd Mayweather Jr. Take a lesson from the person who came the closest to beating him Jose Luis Castillo, stay close and smother. Don't walk follow cut off the ring, you have to make it rough for Floyd or he will just pick you apart.

I feel bad for Mcgirt because I feel he got shit on way too much due to his losing streak a few years back. But I mean he did a lot of good with Gatti, but the fact is Gatti could have had Angelo Dundee, Eddie Futch and Ray Arcel in his corner and Mayweather still would have creamed him.True Antonio was a big favorite against Hopkins, but Hopkins is the craftiest son of a bitch in the game.

We as fans only see the outcomes. Like someone said above, the fact that fighters are still seeking him out to train them says that he knows what he's doing.
