Default Amir Khan World Lightweight Champion

You read it here first Guys and Gals. According to the BBC Amir Khan is the world Lightweight Champion, me thinks they may be getting a bit ahead of themselves.

It's understandable really. Boxing is a second tier sport, heard of little in the main media. Amir Kahn however is a household name in Britain, everybody knows him.

Reporter hands the article to his seceratary to be typed, she types it out, but it's 5.55 and she's rushing to get home. She sees Amir has won a title, of course she assumes that it's a world title he won.

I worked as a journalist for two years there, and you always check your facts, and if it was put in as world champion, then that's a seriously big cock-up. Bet he'll get ribbed about that in the office for a few weeks.

At the Christmas party every year there'd be a bit of an "awards ceremony" for the biggest cock-up, and one that my colleague did was write a story about the "Talking Newspapers for the Deaf"....which is basically newspapers read out on tape, but he put in deaf instead of blind. Oops.

Let's not pre-judge this one, we didn't get all the details provided by the prosecution and nor did we get the mitigation from the defence. I'm sure the judge would have emphasised the importance of being objective to the jury, and treat him like anyone else.

He drove through a red light, doing 45 in a 30 zone and hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing.

Also in the papers again today, he's been banned from the road again today for driving at 145mph.
