Default Hasim Rahman vs. Ray Mercer, 15th November?

I know it's not the most reliable source out there, so lets hope this isn't true...but boxrec has Rahman scheduled to face Mercer on November 15th at Sovereign Center, Reading, Pennsylvania. I know Mercer won recently, but should he still be fighting?

I don't think Mercer should really be getting in the ring with someone like Rahman after barely a round's warm up in Sweden.

Color me crazy, but I think Mercer can win. He still hits hard, may have something of a chin left and Rahman can be kayoed. The real question is, why should we care?

Have a for asking a good question. I can't see the point of the fight. If it happens, I don't get why Rahman would take it. It'll do nothing for his career and it would be catastrophic if he were to lose. I'd heard Tye Fields was negotiating a fight with Rahman a few months ago. That would have been a better fight for Rahman, but I guess it fell through.

Back to you. It's hail mary pass for Rahman. If he had a rematch clause for the title Maskaev took off him he should have exercised it immediately. The simple fact of it is he isn't highly regarded, in fact, he's only regarded for a lucky KO that was immediately avenged, wiping away almost all of his credibility. He's allowed himself to slip due to his inactivity and will have to fight through a ton of guys who've shown much more hunger and ability (most of whom will beat him) just to fight a guy who'll beat him too. He might as well have lost for the most amount of money possible.

I have to wonder about this one?....Which is more pitiful the fact Mercer is still fighting when he has nothing left or Rahman for not fighting anyone ranked or attempting to even get back in the mix?

I know that everyone's gotta make money & eat...but I would think that Mercer would want to stay away from any kind of fighting after getting stomped by Briggs & wrestled the fwock out by Kimbo. WTF?

NO,No,NO This is terrible if accurate and signed. When I first saw the Title I thought it was a "In there prime" what if thing but sham(e) on who ever promotes this.
Mercer Is DONE and being one tuff hard headed good guy does not mean you should fight untill your almost collecting social security checks
Didnt he just go through MMA 0-3 or something?Ive followed Ray since the olympics but this is not good.
What in the hell does Rahman think this will do for his career ??His undedicated arse should get smacked.

100% agreed...the rock solid chin is a great thing when yu are young and in search of a world title but in your mid 40's after some wars and reflexes pretty much shot you are nothing more then a punching bag and easy payday

Boxing News has reported this is in the works, so I'm sad to say this isn't just one of boxrec's mistakes

I had read somewhere that a Rahman Fields fight was in the works. Tye Fields has never been in with someone on Rahman's level...as ashamed as I am to make that statement.

I read the same thing a while ago, although that now looks out and Rahman has instead gone for a much more difficult opponent in a fat man, past it with little left to offer the sport.
