My first memory of boxing was when I was 9(ish) seeing the comeback of Muhammad Ali against Larry Holmes. It was all over the mainstream news and I was rooting for him. When I found out he got beaten and humiliated I disliked Holmes for a long time.

Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
For me, i vaguely remember the Olympics when Carruth and McCullough represented Ireland.
After that i can recall watching the Colins vs. Eubank/Benn fights on tv....
Also i can remember on my fifth birthday i received boxing gloves from my Godfather, me and my eight year old cousin lkaced up and it was dead even.

I was about 8 at a family party in a pub and the First Tyson V Bruno fight was on and I was asking my dad if he could beat Tyson. I got my first pair of gloves and one of those balls on a bendy stick that you stand on and hit later that year.
I never really got fully into boxing till I saw Naz on The Big Fight Live on ITV. That was the fight with the bodyslam lol (Soto?)
Naz was a guy i remember early aswell..
My first hero was Ali, then Hagler....The 50's middle's grabbed my attention next and before i new it i was obsessed.

At the time, I was only a kid of six and the crowd seemed big to me and I kinda like the way Ali mouthed off. I think my father was for Liston but can not really remember now, who he was for.
