That would be interesting while it lasts.
I'm not nearly as high on Julio as a lot of people are but Kirkland needs to chill out at least a little bit. I like how agressive he is but he needs to control it a bit more cause he can be hit pretty easily and I don't know how much power Conyers really has but he definitely stung Kirkland a couple times. He did recover pretty quickly though.
I'm not that high on Julio either but he has 1 thingower.I mean even in his loss, the 1 time he caught Quintana cleanly,he dropped him. I agree with Kirkland. I love the power and combinations from the southpaw stance but whenever I watch him,I always get the feeling that he could get countered and go down at any given moment,he's that open! Conyers was a WW moving up but luckily for Kirkland, aside from Julio,I can't think of any other real big bangers at 154. That's why I thought this fight would be awesome.Originally Posted by OumaFan
There's maybe no huge punchers at 154 but I definitely think Karmazin and Forrest punch hard enough to get him in trouble if he's just hanging his chin out there.
I could see Kirkland beating Julio if he just tightens up a little bit.
Vernon's right hand would clean Kirkland's clock but he's not ready for fight someone of that calibre yet. The commentators at ShoBox try to make him out like some sort of 154pound Aaron Pryor but hes not.Still exciting though. Karmazin would be best at 154 pound imo,if he knew how to fight boxers. By his own admission,he finds southpaw boxers hard to fight,so Spinks,Santos,Martinez would be tough for him to beat. Someone that stands and trades,I think he breaks them down. He would break Kirkland.
He does have a bit of Pryor's agression, the way he seems to really like beating the shit out of people but that's about the only comparison now.
Even though Karmazin has trouble with southpaws I'd favor him over Santos. Haven't really seen enough to comment on Martinez. Isn't Dzindriuk a southpaw.
I think Julio blows him out early. Kirkland has great talent, but he leaves himself to open when he punches. Julio is no defensive wizard but even he is not as wide open as Kirkland is when he punches.
Good matchup Gamo...Originally Posted by El Gamo
I'd favor Julio here I think hes more skilled then Kirkland and had a better all around game. Kirkland got some tools there but he falls short today. If Kirkland can continue to win and at the same time improve his fight game then with time I'd could def. see him beating Julio.
Respect due with Kirklands all out Tempo but he's a human KTFO highlight reel coming to a screen near you,He'll get some but some but he'll take Plenty!Originally Posted by El Gamo
