Default Ponce de Leon and JML

Whatever happened, I think he took defeat way too easy.

“He surprised me. I came in so confident. He got me with a great shot and he knocked me down but I got up and I feel I could have continued but the referee knows his job. Physically I feel okay and hopefully I can get a rematch.” -de Leon

Forget the rematch, he should go fight in other exciting matchups.
I think he should run from this Juan Manuel Lopez guy.

JML on the other hand should jump at the chance for a rematch.

That was my first exposure to Juan Manuel Lopez - can't help but be impressed with a performance like that!

I agree - PDL should pursue other options.

That was the first time I had seen Lopez live too. I watched a few youtube fights/highlights.. going by what i'd seen, It's not a major surprise he beat Ponce, but to slaughter him in one round was VERY impressive

JML looked the business against Ponce.

He may well be the one reason that Izzy/Rafa 4 doesn't happen.

Man, for a second it looked like DPDL had the controls, his punches were moving Lopez back and then the slightest adjustment and it was all over.
Excellent performance by Lopez, he stood strong and overcame one of the hardest punchers p4p in boxing. Now I want to see him in against someone that's slick.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Completatly agree Donny , obviously PDL is one of more dangerous boxer on this Div..........and thats why JML wanted make that fight with PDL for shown that if he defeat PDL , he can fight with other Champions , i think that JML really want try to clean all competitive opponents in this Div....

1st time i ever saw this lopez guy and was blown away with his handspeed.

Cant really make a decent assesment on one round of boxing, but like when i saw kirkland for the 1st time a few weeks back the signs do look very promising!!

Juanma is already a good boxer, but like Cotto, he will get even better and develop as he gains expiereince.

I hope he beats Molitor, I think Juanma will be great.

I have to admit I was unsure going into this fight, De Leon was reputed as one of the toughest in boxing.
    But Juanma showed his worth

When he first went down I thought it was a headbutt, because the hook was so compact I couldn't see it from that angle. PDL gave a hell of a try to recover but JML wouldn't let him get a breath.

That short right by Juanma is his trademark. I've seen many get that same silly feeling Ponce got. What was impressive was how Juanma baited him into it with a feint, a left, step in, then the short right before Ponce could connect. He never saw it coming.

Why, oh why, is that about the third or fourth time I've read this...... In a rematch Ponce gets Ko'ed again, and again, and again. He isn't in the same class as Lopez, and all it took was a round to prove that. What exactly would he do in a rematch that would make him more succesful. He only fights one way, Lopez sat back, circled him, took a couple grazing blows, was pushed backwards, made the adjustement, tightened up his punches on the inside and timed Ponce. Would happen EVERY time they fight at some point. Lopez is just too quick and schooled, he can easily get 3 clean, short shots off in the time it takes Ponce to throw 2 wide shots.
