Default Gamboa to 126? James Kirkland-Deandre Latimore?

Things have still not officially been set but I did a thread a couple weeks ago how Gamboa could be fighting Barrios at 130 but it appears now he's thinking about moving down to 126. Because of his height, if he can make this without losing anything it would probably be the right move. For a while I've thought things could be working towards Gamboa-Linares for a while, we will see.

Also Kirkland-Joel Julio was being looked at but now it appears the fight's been offered to Latimore. If you watched Friday Night Fights last week, he pretty much hammered Powell. I think he's got chin problems though, that's probably what Kirkland's people are looking at.

Also Angulo-Andrey Tsurkan is being looked at to finish out the BAD card.

Will look forward to Kirkland/Latimore. Kirkland is my favorite up and comer; so hope he puts the brakes on Latimore.

I've got a feeling he would beat Latimore but who knows, Latimore has got some ability and Kirkland's been rocked before.

It would be smart matchmaking by Angulo's people to put him in with Tsurkan. Tsurkan's a tough guy with some ability but he's right there for Angulo, I see them steering him away from real slick guys as much as possible.

it was a 130 fight, just looking at boxrec he came in at about 128 and a half.

    Ok.

I think 126 is still his ideal weight.

I posted a couple weeks ago about Angulo-Tsurkan and how it would be a good fight. They are matching Angulo with all the hard hitters I imagine Joel Julio would be next after Tsurkan. Tsurkan isn't bad, very hard hitter could be interesting. Angulo should win.

Latimore's chin really isn't up to par but he does have some serious skills. I've seen 1 round of Kirkland and that was against Albert on HBO. Couldn't draw much but supposedly he's open a lot. Latimore could possibly make him pay especially with his straight punches which are nice. He won the fight on his straight left hand last time.

That's surprising about Gamboa, I figured a move to 135 was a lot more likely then a move down. Not sure what to think. Linares, Guerrero and Luevano are all pretty good I imagine Gamboa wants to compete for a title soon, don't know how he factors in with those guys yet.

What you see with Kirkland is what you get, he comes to hurt you.

He's probably got an early KO in his future but he'll knock some other people out too.
