    Default Eric Morel

Did anybody see him on the undercard of the Calderon fight? I know he used to be a pretty good fighter and now he's moved up to 118 and had a couple of fights there. Now he's calling out Gerry Penalosa.

Does he look like he has much left, much to offer at 118. Its not like 118's that loaded. I mean he was a good fighter, a champion, I do remember him getting handled pretty well by Martin Castillo but to be fair that was a Martin Castillo at or near his peak which was a pretty good peak.

Hate the rapist!!!! He should be in jail... :banansex:

I saw him, I was hoping for a MIRACLE KO! from Ruiz....
Morel did look good jabbing the night away and fighting at a distance but then again we gotta see who he fought "Cuate" Ruiz is not much of a challenge these days. Apparently the fight was for the WBO NABO Bantam trinket so it looks like he really want's to go after Gerry....

I would have liked to see Mares spark Morel the fuck out.

I forgot what he did to get in prison, it was rape?

Ruiz used to be pretty solid.

I always think of the Rafa Marquez KO when I think of him. Nasty.

It was a statuary rape. Him and his brothers ran a train on a girl. Something everybody here has done at least once. Nothing big. Except she turned out to be only 15. Either way he paid his dept to society. He did his time.

I think he can make noise at Bantamweight. He'll beat Penaolsa.

What does run a train mean? Is that what we in the UK call a roasting? A load of guys doing one girl?

I take it she was up for it, and not forced, but that her age is what led to it being called rape?

Did he know she only 15 or did he claim to think she was older?

Abner Mares is the no. 1 contender to Peñalosa's crown... Maybe a Peñalosa vs. Mares championship fight as undercard of Hoya-PAC fight...

Yeah it means the same thing. And I'm pretty sure the girl was up for it. One girl rolling with 3 guys. I doubt she thought they were going to church

Is that so? But I think Mares can still make the bantam limit and I also read that he's interested in fighting Peñalosa for the title...

He was interested prior to his last bout but I'm not so sure now.
Who knows he might move back down if it all goes well.

No doubt. If the whore would of been 18 this wouldn't of been issue. But she wasn't. I do agree he should of been more careful.

Peñalosa opts for undefeated Mexican in title defense

World Boxing Organization bantamweight champion Gerry Penalosa has picked undefeated 22-year-old Mexican Abner Mares over Nestor Rocha for his next title defense.

The Mares showdown is a mandatory title defense. Peñalosa is hoping the fight can be on the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar de La Hoya undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on December 6.

Penalosa said that his manager, Billy Keane, called him and told him there were two offers on the table from Golden Boy Promotions.

The first offer stipulates that Peñalosa should defend his title against Rocha for a purse of $150,000, possibly on the undercard of the IBF/IBO welterweight title fight between Paul Malignaggi and Britain's Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton at the MGM Grand on November 22..

The second says the WBO champ should face No. 1 ranked Abner Mares (17-0, 10 KOs) also at the MGM Grand but on the megabuck Pacquiao-de la Hoya fight for a much bigger purse of $250,000.

Penalosa, the 36-year-old southpaw with a record of 53-6-2 with 36 knockouts, said his choice was Mares. “I am confident I can beat him.”
