Normally fans regard slick or defensive fighters as not tough, but what slick fighters can you remember being tough ?
James Toney
Floyd Mayweather Jr
Pernell Whitaker
Are a few that come to mind.

Hopkins
Calzaghe could be called slick.
Willie Pep
Ray Robinson
Ray Leonard
Shane Mosley(not really slick, but still tough)
Same goes with Oscar Dela Hoya
Wilfredo Benitez
Muhamad Ali
Mark Johnson, coming up very slick but not afraid to war.The way he went out vs. Jhonny Gonzalez, not reflective of career.
Agreed, on Ray Leonard, he was definitely tough. He had to be to go toe to toe with Duran for 15 rounds, giving Duran all he could handle.
Leonard could definitely take a good punch. He also had the ability to raise the level of his game when the going got tough, as in the first fight against Hearns, and also against Donny Lalonde, where leonard was hurt and came back strong to score a crushing knockout.

I think Chris Byrd was slick and tough.....though when he debuted I detested him
Jimmy Young ? he did go the distance with Shavers, Ali, Foreman, and deserved to beat Shavers in the rematch and Ali.
Chris Byrd until old age got him
Winky Wright.
Larry Holmes
Johnny Tapia
The wicked shall die by there own wickedness.
Lennox Lewis's toughnes was up there with the best when focused..
