Hurt thumb

Okay so today in sparring i went in with a hard and stiff jab...you know the good ones...but when im tired my fists open a little, so the guy moves hit head a little and i hit the side of his head with my thumb only and now it hurts, i can move it everyway but it hurts, it hurts the most when i move it towards my palm and away.
My trainer told me to juzz keep movin it and it will be okay but it doesn't seem to be workin any thoughts?

Ice and ibuprofen are your friends,its swelling and stiffening(insert any joke you want there) its minor,just ice the thing down,and suck down a couple of ibuprofens

Its not sweeling But its defenetly stiffening
no seriously its not swelling but its stiff a little

i have two sprained thumbs.. one which happened 3 weeks ago, and it's still sore because i play either basketball or hockey 2-3 times a week.. I'm not sure if you sprained it, but even if it's a bruise i'd say lay off of it and rest it as much as possible..

IMO, thumb injuries are one of the worst nagging injuries i've ever had.. every time i step on the court and catch a hard pass, it bothers me again.. never goes away..

Ice it anyway,the stiffening is swelling its just noticable visually(insert another joke right about there)
Heat is the absolute worst thing you could do,it encourages swelling,it will only make it hurt worse.

Ok overnight my thumb seemed to get worse the problem is at the knuckle were the thumb connects to my hand.
overnight it got red it swelled up a bit and it got stiffer.
i put ice on it for a while but its no difference

Told you it would take a bit,DO NOT PUT HEAT ON IT. Do me a favor and check for a nick or a cut around the joint,because it could be an infection.

Yes it would bad if you popped it,it'll only swell worse. I do not recomend this at all,but if you still want to go,have them wrap your tape as tight as they can to imobilize the thumb so you cant re-injure it during the fight. Also before the commish gets in to check your wraps,bath it in ambesol,it will pre-numb it up,its legal,but the commish is going to want a look at your thumb if they see you doing it.Because the only time you do it is if you know your guy is hurt.
