    Default R.I.P. Benjamine Flores

Just got some horrible news that Benjamin Flores has died five days after he was hospitalized following a title bout with Al Seeger in Dallas. That's just awful.

He died at Parkland Hospital on Tuesday. Referee Laurence Cole awarded the victory to Seeger in the eighth round of the North American Boxing Federation fight on Thursday at the Hilton Anatole hotel. The Houston fighter was helped to his stool before lying down. Doctors rushed to his side and Flores appeared unconscious when removed on a stretcher. The fight was for the vacant NABF super bantamweight title. Flores was 19-3 and weighed 122 pounds

    Rest in Peace warrior.

    RIP.

Seems to be a lot of bad boxing related brain injuries/death lately, or maybe I am just more aware of them because of posts like this.

Very sad news. Thought and prayers with him and his family and Al Seeger.

Horrible news. Just noticed this on fightnews, seems like Seeger's a good guy so I'm sure its tough on him too.

    from fightnews...
    Al Seeger speaks

    By Lee Bates
As reported by Fightnews, Benjamin Flores tragically passed away five days after his fight with Al Seeger on April 30th. Fightnews spoke with Seeger who is understandably emotional and feeling the effects of the passing of Flores. “Besides just being a good man, Benjamin Flores was a true boxing warrior who pursued his dream of becoming a world champion and climbing the economic ladder for his family,” said Seeger. “Benjamin Flores passed away five days after his bout on Thursday, in which he fell into a coma. He leaves behind a son, fiance, mother, father, and brother, among others. We ask that if you can, to please reach into your heart and consider sending a donation to this fund (see below) which has been created for his family by the Texas Real Estate Council. I just pray that the family has the peace they need to deal with this.”
