Default Jab-Cross Instructional Video (Advanced method)

I saw this video on youtube from a gym called Crazy Monkey Defense. The video is very interesting, in the sense that the Jab is thrown with the twist of the hip, like say a Cross or Left Hook. The Jab that this guy throws is like the same hip rotation as a Left Hook (like twisting on the ball of the left foot), which gives enough torque to the right hip to throw a mean Cross.

It is certainly a little different than the "straight" (as in no hip rotation) Jab followed by the Cross. I think it would be great to use on an Inside Fighter who moves in to punch inside. However, if you move in with it, you have to move forward while simultaneously twisting your left hip to the right to land the Jab. What are your guys' thoughts?

In that video the way that Rodney King throws it looks easy to counter since you can see it coming. Is it supposed to be a left hook or a jab?

Anyways I think that every boxer should possess a powerful enough jab that can keep an opponent honest. The extra snap comes from the torquing of the hips and waist followed by the quick turn of the shoulder You don't need to stand so square to do it. A slight turn of waist is enough, albeit a sharp and violent twist to give your jab power.

Even though you're throwing your jab hard you don't want it to be so blatantly obvious. Don't stand too square, just to about an angle that enables you to turn your hips into the punch. Keep your elbow down, preferably close to your body (this helps with quickness, you can ask Scrap about that yourself), and when you jab don't bring the elbow up too soon. Get your shoulder involved by quickly turning it a couple of inches too the right. If you're going to step in with the jab, try to make smooth and fencer-like and coordinate the your jab with your feet. That is when you move your left foot forward you jab.

Anyways here's a neat video by Ron Lipton that you might be interested in:
