Default What's up with Woman's boxing at the moment?

Leila Ali hasn't fought for 2 years, Anne Wolfe hasn't fought for 3 years, what's going on?

Well Laila Ali got married in 2007 that might have something to do with it, i also think she was afraid of Ann Wolfe, and some of the other top contenders which is way she retired. And Ann Wolfe said she wants to concentrate on training boxers now, and has finished with her career hence why she is training James Kirkland.

Il be honest dont take much of an intrest in womens boxing, like most sports the women side of it is so inferior i just cant enjoy it, thats not a sexist remark just a fact that men are better athletes.

you clearly have not watched beach volleyball, gymnastics, beach volleyball, diving (and various other water sports), beach volleyball, cheerleading (it's a sport to me!), and ofc beach volleyball.

    i doubt it mate

unless your talking about complete low standard no hopers.

The top 3-400 super middleweights would have no problem beating up on a woman boxer

Women and sports just do not go together.

If my wife wanted to take up boxing id just buy her a frilly dress or offer to help out with the dishes every once in a while
    one dangerous horrible bloke

I'm not fighting that's the problem with it. For me Ali was only looking for a fast track to fame, it showed the lack of depth in the sport that she got anywhere.

As it is I think the overall standard has got better just because there are more women involved and they're starting younger so they have more time to develop their skills. What they generally lack is explosive ko power (unlike me) , I went to a fight at derby the other week....they were resonably skilled but for the love of god I was waiting for one of them to give a crack to the ribs (unlike me).

One of the few times I wish I was a teenager again...I'd be a monster for my weight

I was about to say that. Just get the best female athlete in any sport discipline vs the best male athlete in the same sport discipline and you'll get the idea.
When it comes to boxing I just thought women in the ring looked a bit, Iiiiiiii dunno. I would be dissapointed everytime there was a women's match in the fight card. That's when I would fix myself a sandwich, make a phone call, go outside, etc.

I think the biggest problem was the lack of depth. I think those at the top are probably in someway comparable with some decent male fighters. Ann Wolfe had some awesome fights although I thought she was always too bulky & I would fancy her to take out some domestic level MWs. However, like in football, behind the odd really talented star there was a wealth of competition that just wasn't on the same level & was of a Kid Thunder standard, but often they would end up fighting for titles.
