Default Hard times for British boxing

ITV have pulled the plug on there boxing shows which showed some very good British up and coming talent.

Setanta have gone tits up along with all there great boxing shows from America,Germany and also British fights.

Haye it seems has frozen himself out of the title picture for the time being.

Calzaghe has gone,Hatton wont be to far behind.

Lets hope Khan can become the new star of British boxing.

After the last few years which have been very good I think the next couple might see a down turn across the board.

Once ESPN gets on board they`ll take over certain rights.

Sky will just latch on to the likes of murray, fury, thaxton etc if itv really has pulled the plug it means an end to the saturday night british fights which long term will effect the state of the sport itself.

But boxing will always be big business in the UK as long as it keeps producing world stars like hatton and calzaghe.

The worry is right now that other than amir khan and perhaps david haye there is nobody who looks like stepping up to the plate and we may have to suffer the same lull that we did once the likes of eubank, benn and lewis all retired and we had to wait for the eventual rise of hatton.

Thing is I have got used to watching boxing on friday(sky) and Saturday (ITV4,Setanta) nights now.

I doubt that sky will increase there boxing shows so at the lower end of the scale boxers will get less tv time.

British boxing is definitely in trouble with you guys are relying on A Mere Con to become the next boxing star of Britain. The words boxing star and Con should never be in the same sentence.

My advice is to get yourself a subscription with one of these sport stream sites like i have with TASS and you`ll get as many european and american cards as you like!!

You guys are relying on Amir Kahn?!?!?! What about David Haye I thought he was your boy, or do you admit the guy is a total joke?
