I think it's bullsh#t; wanna' fight Cotto go to his territory. With that said if Cotto and his team agree to it then hell yeah he should get credit. Cotto is playing a dangerous game though giving even a couple of pounds to this tsunami in human form.

It's just two pounds! I can understand if your having to make a 10 pound weight change, but come on its two meesly pounds, When i wake up in the morning I lose two pounds from taking a dump, so yes he should get credit!

    It's hard to please everybody.

Pacquiao ducked many, Campbell can't name any

Campbell accusing PAC of ducking black fighters.
IMHO it's only Mosely that PAC's handlers have a fear of fighting.
Seriously who thinks Campbell poses a greater threat than Cotto
Campbell is a nice guy no doubt but he is way over his head to say that he is the best 140 pounder out there.

I'm fed up of hearing it. Fight Cotto at 147, then no one can say shit!

I would rather they just do it at 147 as those who don't want to give Pacquaio any credit for anything will seize on this.

That and some will just genuinely think its not as meaningful at 145. Which is fine although I don't totally agree.

But SweetPea nailed it IMO. Of course its a huge accomplishment. And there's context too, circumstances, Cotto isn't a huge welter, he's really a tweener, too big for 140, not a huge welter. If Margarito or Williams, for example, were forced to make 145 I think it would be a bigger deal as they are really 154 pounders fighting at welterweights. Or at least were fighting there in PWill's case.

Yeah he should get credit. They are two measly pounds as another poster put it, but if that's the case then remove the catchweight all together.

I'm against the catchweight, but don't think it will affect Cotto's performance if it's 145.

Should Pac win he deserves all credit. I still say he loses by KO though.

Actually no. If Pacman fights him at 147 and if he beats Cotto, myself and other people will say that Pacman beat a declining Cotto that never recovered from Margarito.

Cotto fought Clotty and 146. I see this as a non issue. Cotto will just have to lay off the cervesas. And unfortunatley for all of us I'm sure Cotto will come in pretty much naked for the weigh in.

Funny thing about this fight. If 14 months ago this fight was talked about at this weight everyone would of said it's a suicide mission for Pac.

If PAC can fight De La Hoya at 147 he can sure as hell fight Cotto at 147. Why not just fight him at 147, just two pounds more and make a real god damn statement instead of trying to edge lower and lower in weight.

Take your catchweight, and haul it back over to the Pacman board. No offence meant.

I will give Manny credit if he beats Cotto at 145. First, Cotto can make 145 without being seriously drained. Second, at 145, Cotto will be fast and still STRONGER than Manny. Three, I believe Cotto will inflict Manny's worst beating as a boxer. Many people are forgetting that only physical, pressure, strong fighters give Cotto trouble. Speedy fighters with some pop or less power get brutally destroyed. Manny may have some pop at that weight and definitely speed, but he will not out physical/pressure Cotto. Just listen to Freddie Roach's comments. When Manny fought de la Hoya and Hatton, he had no doubt Manny would win. He publicly spelled out the blueprint to beat de la Hoya and he predicted a brutal KO of Hatton. If you read Roach's comments concerning a probable Cotto fight, they are more respectful and cautious. Roach has said that it will be a tough fight for Manny and he has also said that he believes Manny will win, but what trainer ever says his fighter will lose? At first, Roach was campaigning hard for the fight to be at 142. He later said 145 was OK, but maybe he realized that he was sounding too concerned publicly for Manny's health. Late round TKO by Cotto in my opinion.

Hell yah! remember Pacquiao is a natural 130 to 135lbs fighter. His fighting 10 lbs more... Any fighter who fights bigger guys should be credited!

At fight night Pacquiao will be 148lbs and Cotto will be 160lbs! So, 145lbs is no big deal...
