Default Live AIBA Men's World Championships(from Milan)

    AIBA - International Boxing Association

For those interested. So long as there are fights, it is running live here.

Scoring is live point by point too, which is always fun imo.

Fights are currently under way. Competition has been boiled down so check out the live best of world amateurs on an otherwise boring Sunday if you've nothing better to do.

This from a story on todays front page of AIBA, from Milan:

"In one of the most bizarre boxing matches in recent history Vitalijus Subacius of Lithuania defeated Dzhakhon Kurbanov of Tajikistan. The two boxers traded punches for eight minutes and 59 seconds, with Kurbanov leading 15-10. But with one second to go, the referee stopped the contest and declared Subacius the winner.

Chairman of the Jury and AIBA Referees and Judges Commission Chairman Terry Smith explained: "The doctor realized that Kurbanov was totally exhausted and unable to defend himself. Therefore he signalled that the contest should be stopped. On seeing this I blew my whistle and the referee declared the RSC with one second to go. It was the perfect decision taken by the ring doctor."

    Damn.

    "Zewski throws a family party

Finally young Mikael Zewski of Quebec City solved the Cuban riddle. The 20-year-old Canadian boxer became the first to beat a Cuban at the XV AIBA World Championships in Milan, and he did it in front of his father, mother and girlfriend. What a family party!

I got to see a few bouts, pretty good stuff. Does the AIBA broadcast other events?
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
