    Default Francesco Pianeta

A friend just pointed me to this Italian/German Heavyweight Francesco
Pianeta. I've looked at some Youtube stuff and he looks like he could be for real...anyone else have an opinion of this guy?

Yeah I think he is the kid who stopped Duvas latch key kid Mike Marrone.....He has beaten some good journeymen like Skelton...But other then than those 2 fights don't know much of him...Think he is more or less home based for his bouts....His videos look good though....I mean I am not really sure if he is a slugger or a boxer....He looks not so big to be a puncher but it doesn't show him doing much but being on the attack...

I am always interested in some new HW arrivals...the division sorely needs them

I guess we at least owe him a debt of gratitude for getting Mike Marrone off of our TV screens

He's nothing great , trust me. A decent fighter but I doubt he'd beat guys like Chagaev, Chambers, or even Tony Thompson . I saw him many times, and the scrap vs Sosnowski. It was a good fight but I thought Sosnowski should have got it . But a draw was alright i guess

And I just checked, Marrone hasn't fought since 2008...Pianeta must have done a number on him

I am guessing Duva was not protecting him enough so Mike decided to call it a day ......

That kid was never supposed to go anywhere and I don't actually remember Duva really acting as if he was......From what I remember he was just a kid who they took a liking too and tried to help- him live a bit of a dream......

...questionable stoppage but in truth Marrone should have taken a knee

The stoppage was a blessing in disguise...Eventually Marrone would have ended up in the ring with a fighter who was capable of doing damage even if it was some unknown...and Gotten himself hurt...
