Default who`s the best lightweight in the world now?

Dont mean to post this with any distaste but was just wondering who`s peoples take on the now number 1 lightweight following valeros demise

Cant really consider marquez consider his last fight was at 147 and all the talk of his return appears to suggest he`ll fight at 140.
    one dangerous horrible bloke

I still regarded JMM as the best Lightweight anyway. I think he would have beaten Valero. Marquez moved up in weight and was beaten by the greatest fighter in the world today, no shame in that!

If he does indeed fight at 140 next then maybe i'll have to rethink.

Joan Guzman can't be qualified as a lightweight anymore.

None really stand out for me. I actually think Khan should move back down. Better shot at ruling than at 140.

This would be a good time for Anthony Peterson to try to actually take a step up.

If he does make it, it will be more to do with clever match-making and a lack of competition imo.

Marquez/Diaz 2 should be at lightweight. Out of your list Casamayors last fight was at welter, Diazs was at a catchweight, Guzman weighed in as a welter. So of your choices I'd say Soto.

As I don't like any of the other fighters on the list, and seen as Marquez hasn't been beaten at lightweight and also the possibility that he'll fight at lightweight again next, i'm sticking with Marquez for sure until he says he won't be fighting at lightweight.

Surprised you didn't have Miguel Vazquez, Miguel Acosta or even Katsidis on your list.

Lightweight has really fallen apart, but there is a lot of young talent coming in to fill the void.

    He's fighting Humberto Soto next.

Marquez is fighting Diaz for the second time for the lightweight championship.

    Marquez is still number 1.
