What size gloves for pad work?

I just interested to know people's views on which size gloves are the best for pad work? I have been using the gyms own gloves for the past few months but I'm gonna get a pair of my own now I'm stepping it up. I been using 12oz gloves but I've heard 10oz gloves can be used too - and even as low as 7oz.

Just interested to hear anyone's views or personal preference. Also, can these gloves be used on the bags even though I know you can get specific bag gloves?

I use 16 or 18 oz on the heavy bag and 12 wit the mitts
