Default DeGale Gets European Title Shot Next Fight!

I don't get how they've managed it, but in September he will be facing Piotr Wilczewski the current champ and ranked world number 3 by the WBO.

If he wins this he will be Euro champ and not far off a world title shot. Not bad coming off the back of a loss!

I don't know much on the opponent, but from what I've read he looks like he could be dangerous.

That's the benefit of having a big time promoter.

You can guarantee the guy will defend the title over here and Warren's mob think DeGale is a borderline cert.

Lucky Boy to have Frank as his promoter, good luck to Degale, if he looses this one it will be a major set back though, my thinking is they might be trying to temp Groves with the Euro belt for a rematch, will Groves and Booth take the bait ?.

I didn't think you could fight for the European coming off a loss?

I doubt it would tempt Groves, i have a feeling he is living the high life at the moment riding the crest of a wave and partying and enjoying being a part of the Haye team. I think he will face a reasonably easy opponent next which may even trouble him just to ease him back in to fighting.

At lease De Gale is moving forward. Groves seems to be idle and hanging around Haye. Groves needs to get in the gym and start fighting again. De Gale has connections, Groves needs to start using his.

To be fair, it's only been 6 weeks since a demanding fight (for him) in which he got a pretty bad cut from a clash of heads. One of his mates from Dale Youth told me he wants Magee next, but I doubt they put him in there just yet. That would be a tough ask & Booth's mysterious game plans have now been exposed as throwing fuck all punches & trying to pot-shot your way to victory.

On DeGale, I think this shows some bottle. It would be easy to have taken an easy mark on the undercard of one of Warren's shows to work his way back in, but this fella didn't look bad when he beat down Asikainen, so I see this as a definite challenge. The guy's not world-class, but he's most certainly a step-up from Smith.

I'm starting to become a little anti-Warren because it only seems to be their fighters who actually get the big shots, even when they're coming off defeats.

DeGale isn't a bum, but he shouldn't be coming off a defeat for a smaller title to fight for a more prestigious one. BS.

Could more be done to seperate promoters and the sanctioning bodies perhaps? Frank's making money off contacts he's got, cause the shots simply aren't being given on merit from what I can see.

Free market success story right here. DeGale will fail his way to an actual title.

Degale deserves his shot, he lost a close decision and a good fight to groves, degale still will or could go far probley further than groves, i think theres far too much emphasis on boxers keeping there un-beaten records nowa-days, this stops the fans seeing the best fights! Fair play degale lose and then get back in with the best opponent u can!

That statement that's bolded explains why he doesn't deserve a shot. Fenster is right though, the promoter is everything in this game. Can you imagine using that logic in any other sport? It completely negates the value of any result!

Liverpool has more potential than Man City, therefore they should get the Champions League spot! NO Man City earned that spot on the pitch.

Maybe after De Gale loses this fight he will get a shot at the world title. Warren can arrange it.
