Default Where does Canelo go from here?

154 is a loaded division: James Kirkland, Alfredo Angulo, Erislandy Lara, Carlos Molina, Paul Williams, Vanes Martirosyan, Sergiy Dzinziruk, K9 Bundrage, Wolak/Rodriguez winner, Cotto/Margarito winner. I believe there may be more to gain fighting those guys than jumping up in weight to take on a huge middleweight in Chavez Jr. Canelo calls out Mayweather, but that's a money play. He isn't experienced enough yet for Mayweather. It would be a blow out.

I'll be happy if he just has someone who gives him a bit more of a challenge. The kid is still only 21, I don't want to see him in there with Floyd yet.

How long he can stay at this weight for though I'm not sure. His body is still growing and he has out grown the weight I think. I bet weigh ins must kill him.

I don't see him staying around 154 for much longer he's quite thick bodied plus he's only 21 so he will out grown the division soon. But for now a fight with someone with more heart than Cintron will be good.

Mayweather would be a crazy fight for him now, its too early, the Cotto v margarito winner would be perfect for him imo, especially margarito who never stops comin forward even when hes getting pummelled!!

For those saying they don't want to see him in with Floyd *yet*, keep this in mind: if he doesn't fight Mayweather next year he will probably never get to. He won't be able to make 154lbs forever. Canelo is the third most relevant fight out there for Floyd, so if the Pacquiao or Martinez fights can't be made, I'd like to see Mayweather/Alvarez in May.

Other than that, I'd love to see Canelo in with Kirkland or Cotto.

Have him fight Chavez Jr. Oh wait........ Papa Chavez would probably veto that one.

To be clear, Alvarez will be at junior middleweight for a long time to come. He has fought comfortably at 150 for a while let alone 154.

I agree, Mayweather would school Alvarez... badly.. Personally, i'd like to see Alvarez attempt to dominate and/or clean up the Jr. Middleweight Division, before he even thinks about a fight with Mayweather.

I'm the biggest mayweather fan(boxing fan). But I'll suggest MM, stay away for Canelo.

Saul should get back in the ring rather quickly. Williams vs K9 is a possible matchup. But if that do t happen, that should be the matchup around February. Other then K9, Vanes I believe is the mandatory. Again in February. The winner of Cotto vs Margarito won't be ready to fight until the summer anyways.

Since mayweather did a PPV with saul once before, I got a May 5th super card.
    Main event
    MM vs Cotto(if he wins)
Margarito will b good enough should he win
    Co main event
    Saul vs Martinez.
Martinez won't have to drop to 150lbs.

That would be a great card. Good luck getting Top Rank and Golden boy together for that, and throw in lou dibella in the mix, not gonna happen. These guys dont want to split money with one other promoter let alone 2 others.

You are totally right. But Floyd is not a puppet. He pull the strings. As far as TR, Arum is a different story. But this way, Arum will make the most money. Pacman and still fight JMM. Arum can make Mayweather money off Cotto. And Lou needs to agree with anything to get Martinez a major fight
