If he does fight this guy Fonfara, thats gota be the worst first 3 defences of a world title ever? Kuziemski, Bellew and Fonfara. Its good business I suppose. He faced the best opponent hes faced before he won a world title in Murat!

Am a big fan ov clev but the quality ov recent opposition is a joke. He was handed the world title without having to fight brahmer no fault ov his but I feel he still needs to prove his self at world level never actually being champion.he must struggle to get motivated for these fights.

I found this article about Fonfara earlier, Andrew Fonfara Boxing Prospect and saw the clip, saw his most recent fight (it's on youtube) and TBH whilst he's going to be an under-dog he looks like he has decent reach and could pose SOME (not a lot but some) for Cleverly who really isn't much of a champion as it is.

"If cleverly wants to have a legacy
like calzaghe these are the opponents that will rack up the wins so he can remain undefeated" says frank warren to nathans trainer.

I am a little familiar with Fonfara and have seen some of the guys he has faced. Tall and thin, decent straight right hand. I guess he had trouble making 168; he is not really very stout for light heavy. This isn't a fighter that Cleverly should have a lot of trouble with and there were much better fights out there, Campilo and Green would have been better at this point in my opinion.

Waste of time fight. Getting quite irritated with him now. He has a title so in my book he should be fighting someone in the top ten of the devision.
There are plenty of people he can fight. Cloud, Beibut Shumenov, Allan Green, Zsolt Erdei even though the last two are not in the top ten.
There are like four people I dont know in the top ten who he could fight.
If he wants to lose his title then he could fight one of the top three.

The annoying thing with boxing is when a good fighter is protected cause once they retire and people look back and say "yeah he was a good fighter but he never really fought anyone of importance" but they have the oppertunity.

to many boxers want to retire with a 0 and to me that shouldn't matter as at the end of the day it should be about building a legacy.Win, Lose or Draw a great fighter is determined by great fights so until Frank Warren throws Cleverly in with the likes of Dawson, Hopkins, Green and the rest Cleverly will be seen as a maybe fighter

I thought Cleverly IS the bum? lol jk.. What happened to his unification match with Shumenov in vegas?

He should at least man up to face Allan Green.

Cleverly is young and still inexperienced at the world level so he needs to develop his boxing skills and defence before he thinks about unifying. Bellow was a good fight that showed he needs to learn more before he goes against the best in the division.
