Floyd has confirmed one thing that I once saw on a poster years ago,":It is better to keep one's mouth closed than to open it and confirm he is an idiot." The media has made it's point for a few minutes of rating power and they love it. I do not defend Floyd but the hard work it takes an athlete to get on the team of his dreams or to play the game he loves is all that matters and without boxing or others to lend an ear or inadvertently hear this garbage Floyd is nothing and he should remember it is a sport and try not to drop your bar of soap Floyd. I have a great deal to say about remarks like that but I will do the right thing and hope he apologizes to that member of the Knicks.

No, they HAVE brought his religion up, however, they have emphatically denied that he is anything like Tim Tebow....which is a double standard in my view, but hey, the media members don't have to answer to anybody do they? They just have their little script and they follow it, they want to make up controversies and debate and sensationalize to get ratings.

I don't think Tim Tebow is all that great, but he has heart, he is a team player, he's a solid leader, and most importantly in the sports world he WINS! Same with Jeremy Lin. I understand it's an underdog story, and that's cool, but bringing in the minute details of race, ethnicity, religion, etc is all part of the sensationalism part of it and it's just not needed.

    From today's NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/20/sp...ft-out.html?hp

(the lede: "When was the last time a young, untested professional African-American athlete received the type of adulation Tim Tebow and Jeremy Lin have seen this year?")

William C. Rhoden the article of that piece.

And tell me which undrafted black NBA player in similar circumstances did what Lin did and hardly receive coverage? I usually hear crickets when people asks this question and there is no answer.

But like I said, it's not surprising that it's mainly Blacks and Floyd's fans that are in agreement with him.

Do you really not get that you're being a huge bigot right now? The irony is astounding . . . .

And how am I a bigot? I pointed out the obvious. It's mainly FLoyd, his fans, and many blacks that had a problem with Lin's race and the coverage he received. You guys turned it into race and nothing but race. Those are facts.

I can't believe you're really this ignorant. "It's 'mostly blacks' that have a problem with Lin." "This NY Times writer must be 'Floyd's people' because I found his picture and he's a black man." If you don't get it, I'm not going to be able to help you out on a boxing site.
