Default Did anyone score the fight for Rios?

I haven't seen the fight yet but as usual I have been too impatient and checked the result first.

I had a quick browse through the fight thread and everyone seems pretty disgusted on here.

There's even this article on secondsout SecondsOut Boxing News - Main News - Rios Awarded Dubious Decision Over Abril and when I saw the headline saying 'dubious' I thought ok another decision that could have gone either way but after reading the article I was surprised as when these sites report they might say that it was 'controversial' etc but they have actually said that Rios was outclassed and beaten clearly, scoring the fight 118-110 for Abril.

Some fights people say are robberies etc when they genuinely could have gone either way. Groves vs Degale after watching it a few times It could have easily been a draw, a win for Groves or a win for Degale. (I had it for Groves by the smallest of margins). So I am assuming this wasn't anything like being that close!.

Did anyone score the fight for Rios? Just curious to know if anyone on here could make a case for Rios winning, even anyone who is a big fan of his, what did you think?

I'll hopefully catch the fight today and post my scores.

It is impossible to score the fight for Rios unless you are one of Arum's in pocket corrupt 'officials'.

    Robbery.

I was rooting for Rios I'm a fan of him, but no way in hell did he win that fight. I gave him like 2 rounds I think that's it. It was amazing to me how Robert Garcia never urged his fighter that he was down.. was it because he was ignorant and thought his fighter was winning or because he knew something was going on? .... It was also weird how they carried him after the fight.. no way in hell that fight was even close.

Not a chance, mine was the same as the card for Abril. Truly awful decision.

No. Frankly anyone who did is a liar and not fit to judge a grade school coloring contest. Abril mugged and robbed as were the ppv viewers.

They should be sued or charged with a crime.

No way. I had Abril winning. It wasn't even close. I maybe could see at the most something like 116-112 Abril.

I don't think they get paid anything. I think they do it for a regular paycheck. They know who the casinos/promoters want to win so tha's what they do. It means they get picked for future fights and they're not at home watching them on TV.

Mickey Duff, the old British promoter was in Vegas not long after JCC Senior-Meldrick Taylor and bumped into Richard Steele in a bar. He asked him why he stopped the fight when he did and Steele said "Mickey, I've got to work in this town." Times are tough matey, people need work and boxing judges are no exception.

Ok, let me say one thing about the "aggresion" factor. It's supposed to be effective aggresion. You can wade in... get peppered with shots... miss a few of your own, or get them blocked.... and you haven't done a damn thing. Are boxing judges such imbeciles that they can't tell effective aggresion from INeffective aggresion? Who cares that Rios was coming forward all night. He hardly, if ever, connected cleanly on Abril. Most of his shots were blocked, missed altogether, or were smothered by Abril. A blind chimpanzee on crack could've scored the fight better than ol' Curly, Larry, and Moe the other night.

So again.... no frigging way on Earth did Rios win that fight. The decision was outrageous, and the only two possible explanation are:

    1. Two of the worst, most retarded boxing judges in the history of the sport.
    2. Money exchanged hands.

    End of story.

No disrespect bro, but have you ever been ringside for a fight? The judges have the best view in the house. When you watch on TV you're at the mercy of TV directors. They can make whoever they want look the winner.

It may have looked like Rios lost on TV but the people with the best view saw him win. Trust me. If you watched that fight ringside like I didn't you would've made Rios the winner. Fact.

No disrespect bro, but have you ever been ringside for a fight? The judges have the best view in the house. I would argue with that. Ringside, you're looking UP at the action, not necessarily the best angle. PLUS... you miss a lot of the action on the opposite side of the ring. Simple geometry. You're sitting below a level surface, which if the ring is big enough will obscure your view of the other side. When you watch on TV you're at the mercy of TV directors. They can make whoever they want look the winner. Personally I think you're giving the directors too much credit. I don't they're good enough to "skew" the viewing public in either direction. They're too busy trying to get the best shots and not screw up.

It may have looked like Rios lost on TV but the people with the best view saw him win. Trust me. If you watched that fight ringside like I didn't you would've made Rios the winner. Fact. Again you throw in that key word... "didn't". I don't get it. You didn't watch it at ringside either. What makes you so sure then that Rios won the fight?

Honestly no... I've never been ringside for a fight. I've been to plenty of fights, and with pretty good seats (personally, I like to sit slightly above the ring... so I tend to favor small colisseums). But you bring up some points, which I would like to answer. Please see my comments in red alongside yours.

As I first started posting here, I didn't like this Fenster guy.

But now, as I've read more posts of his, I realize that he's a comic genius.

No, seriously. Good on you, mate.
