Default Marquez-Judah in play for July 14 at Cowboys Stadium

Marquez-Judah in Play For July 14th at Cowboys Stadium - Boxing News

    By Rick Reeno

According to sources on both sides, there are ongoing negotiations between Top Rank and Main Events to finalize a junior welterweight fight between Juan Manuel Marquez (54-6-1, 39KOs) and Zab Judah (42-7, 29KOs) for July 14th at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Marquez holds the WBO's interim-title.

Earlier today, Judah was present in the press room at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and appears to be confident that a deal will be closed for a fight with Marquez.

Judah would return from a one-sided ninth round TKO win over previously undefeated Vernon Paris in March, while Marquez won a twelve round unanimous decision over Sergey Fedchenko on April 14th in Mexico.

This is still a great fight, Judah's style should be a real problem for Marquez and I can't quite be confident in picking him. Also, is Marquez really enough of a name to sell out Cowboy stadium? It's not exactly a marquee fight on paper anymore, surprising they want it there imo.

Style might be an issue but marquez is mentally to tough for judah and will have him wilting late

Decent enough match up, maybe a good fight.

I agree. It will be the final nail in Judah's coffin IMO.

I think this fight will be alot like JMM vs Casamayor, but does Judah really deserve this fight ? again it's get tiring hearing about undeserving opponents, i mean JMM lost a highly controversial decision to P4P number 1 fighter, a fight i think he won 7-4-1. What has Judah done in recent times ?

There's a huge Mexican fan base in Texas, so i'm sure JMM - Zab would do well enough if Jerry Jones/Arum could put together a decent undercard to go with it. I can't however imagine it doing well on PPV or selling out Cowboys Stadium. I mean JMM and Zab Judah? Who besides a Mex gives a fuck about watching that fight.

Lost a bunch of times, Zab doesn't deserve another shot a a big name, I hope this fight doesn't get made. Jerry Jones must be hard up for generating revenue and/or activities to fill up an idle Cowboy Stadium.

Im not up to date on my boxing recently, but wasn't Rios/Marquez supposed to be made ? i know Rios got a total gift vs Abril so maybe now its lost some of the hype ? but i'd rather see Rios/Marquez than Judah/Marquez.

And isn't it funny that Breidis Prescott beat Richard Abril legitmately, yet Brandon Rios probably lost 8 or 9 rounds vs Abril. Boxing is a funny old game sometimes.

Brandon Rios is shit, Marquez would have much less trouble with him than Judah imo and it wouldn't be a clash of styles there. I agree Judah hasn't done anything to deserve this, but he has a great chance to at least make it a fun fight.

Judah will put up a fight for about 6rounds then Marquez lays a beating on him from there on but it's an interesting match up. I think Judah is more difficult fight for Marquez than Rios.

If i could put Judahs physical talents into someone with Joe Frazier's guts, I would have given the world the next sugar ray. Judah just angers me.
