According Main Events boss, Kathy Duva, the December 22nd fight between Tomasz Adamek (47-2, 29 KO) and Steve Cunningham (25-4, 12 KO), at the Sand's Casino and Resort in Bethlehem,Pennsylvania has been officially sanctioned by the International Boxing Federation as a fight for the organisation's #2 spot at heavyweight.

"The winner of Adamek - Cunningham will have to fight Kubrat Pulev or the highest ranked challenger for the #1 spot in the ranking and will gain status of official contender", said Lindsey Tucker of the IBF. The winner will fight Pulev in the spring of 2013, and will then become a mandatory for current IBF champion, Wladimir Klitschko.

Boytsov says he will take the fight if it is an official WBO eliminator, and they have put in the request to that organization.

I've been thinking (given the recent events) that Manny's first fight in Wladimir's corner was the Brewster fight. If you guys will remember Lamon Brewster had lost his longtime trainer and friend just before the bout and dedicated the fight to him. Lamon took an ungodly amount of punishment that night and went on to win. I also think of Buster Douglas losing his mother before the Tyson fight and how he perservered.

Wladimir fights Wach in 2 weeks, and as a fan you wonder how he'll handle the first real adversity he's had in his career since that first fight with Manny as his trainer...having seen Wlad grow as a boxer through the years I think he will be determined to show how much Manny taught him and be the champion Manny wanted him to be.

All three of those potential fights are big time. Let's hope at least one of them happens soon. Tony Grano isn't top ten, but he's racked up some decent wins against Travis Kaufman, Brian Minto etc.
