Default Ponce v Gonzalez was a little surprising

Congrats to Espinoza boxing. They are such a class act. Ponce is one of the most awkward fighters on the planet. Great win for him.

It was heating up to be a good little fight. I was looking forward to this one as I like both guys, especially Ponce De Leon.

Johnny Gonzalez was smart to go to the cards when he did as Ponce was closing the distance and starting to hurt him after that knockdown. Cut wasn't going to get much better. Close fight, but I felt the right guy got the decision.

Farhood was way off with his scorecard imo.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

Agreed! The first thing I thought was that Ponce was there as an opponent, but Gonzalez didn't have an answer for Ponce's "Drunken Master" style. Ponce is fun to watch but I feel sorry for anyone he fights. Like you said he is awkward, awkward, awkward. He throws one punch that looks somewhat like a hammer fist.

Liked this one but pulling for Gonzalez but it wasn't to be. That cut looked like he had been hit square in the forehead with a ballpen hammer, ugly stuff. This one had a feel of one that have taken place years ago but good to see two honest vets go after it.

Announcer said it was Joe Cortez last referee assignment, is that accurate?

I heard the fight was boring and Cortez refereed Alvarez v Lopez as his last fight.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

Cortez let Lopez take too much punishment. The guy was never going to give up and Alvarez was mashing him good, you hear me now ? Cortez gone now. Bye bye Joe innit.
