    Default 14 or 16oz gloves for heavybag/sparring?

I'm looking to get a new pair of gloves mainly for the heavybag but possibly a bit of sparring aswell.

I like the look of these http://www.ringsideboxing.co.uk/shop...hite-2014.html My brother has the training glove version in 14oz and they seem spot on,But I was thinking of going for the 16's as that's what most folks seem to recommend for sparring.

    I weigh about 147lbs.

Would appreciate you guys opinion thanks.

The bigger the better, i use to use 18s for sparring and bag, was super fast when it came time to compete with 8oz

Most clubs now will only allow 16oz for sparring, might be lower if you are a lower weight you can always ask.

Yeah I ended up going for 16oz so I can do a bit of everything with them.

I have my hev bag at work and go through the motions each morning.

I dont like 14oz for bag work and 1 pounders are way to much. I have a pair of these,
They are 12 oz. I start with those as I tend to hit harder in the first several minutes of the work out. I then switch to straight bag gloves I also have an old pair of 14 and 16 everlast's with detached thumbs and if a buddy ever wants to hack around I'll use a pair of those and let him use the 12's.

I love those old bag gloves. I can close my fist and my hands don't hurt. The last pair of 'good' gloves I bought were 14 oz Ringside gloves and they just killed my hands. Couldn't make a fist.
