What a great fight this would be. I'd have a hard time picking against either one in this matchup - but I think Ron is right. It would most likely get stopped due to Povodnikov's propensity for eating punches.

Actually, I looked at Top Rank's official website, and Provodnikov isn't listed as one of their fighters. He's actually promoted under Banner Promotions. So, this fight COULD happen.

If/when Garcia moves up to 147, this fight SHOULD happen. Not only would it be a great fight, but it would establish a new lineage at 140, since Matthysse and Provodnikov are ranked #1 and #2, respectively.

His manager was talking about this a while ago and says that they're going to stay loyal to HBO because they gave him his big chance against Bradley. Maybe further down the line he'll jump to GBP but he hasn't got a lot of fights left in him at the top level with his style.

Provodnikov is with Soft Rank and he isn't. He's under Banner Pronotions but he's obligated for one more fight to Soft Rank. I think that's how he got the Bradley fight but I'm not exactly sure when Bob weaseled his way in.
