Guy fights to a decision with Ruiz = guy can beat Tyson.
Is this really what we are coming to? LOL
Sure Tyson the quitter and all that, that was Kevin bloody McBride who is pretty much exactly twice the size of Tyson let alone Roy. And Tyson was WINNING that fight.
Previous fight vs Williams which he lost by big punch from a big man, Tyson was winning every round!
Physical mismatch! Roy I great but he isn't REALLY superman!
"Enough with the games mate! Your messing with the Grand Master!"
Lennox Lewis
I wondered what made Roy call out Tyson.
Personally i liked his courage.
Lennox responded to Roy, but Roy backed down.
Tyson didnt say anything.
Woulda coulda, we can only speculate, but at least Roy called him out. HAD he gotten knocked out, he woulda gotten my respect for taking on a challenge so daunting.
Is Roy's win over Hopkins one of the best individual wins ever? Look at what Hopkins went on to do.
I think Tyson was completely done at that point, and would have lost to Jones, Ruiz, Rahman, Tua, Byrd, ect.

Jones didn't have the legs or movement to avoid getting hit. He relied on his reflexes laying on the ropes and he would have laid on the ropes against someone as strong and aggressive as Tyson.
Jones made a big deal of Ruiz holding before the fit and Ruiz was stupid enough to stand off and try and box. Mike is quicker and a better puncher than Ruiz even at this point and would have got in and traded with Roy and Roy knows he would have had to use his legs a lot which is why he never fought Tyson.
Tyson was finished as a top fighter. He'd had his last chance against lewis but Roy still thought he was too dangerous and he was right. Did Roy have the strength that Williams had that night?
Danny used to be able to come back from being wobbled but getting smashed about by Mike Tyson and Vitali definitely took its toll.
Roy would not risk having to take one of those shots. He knew Tyson had an excellent chin that could take one of the biggest punchers in history's shots so he wasn't going to stop him. He also knew his defence was putting his gloves around his ears and letting his opponent punch. He knew better. This is why the fight didn't happen.
RJJ that fought Ruiz, seemed like a 'seasoned' prime fighter. His physique showed power, and he did brake Ruiz nose.
True that Ruiz is no Tyson, but it wasnt until Roy went back down to fight Tarver that I even saw Roy as past his best, slowed and unable to move like he use to.
Roy used to just stand in front of opponents with his gloves up, he did it with Woods, he did it with Ruiz waiting for the ref to split them. He never used his legs to avoid punches.
