Who are the "stepping stones" who are the most durable and who have survived the biggest punchers?

The few that come to my mind...

Marion Wilson: 12-41 (never stopped)

Gone the distance with: Frans Botha, Jeremy Williams, Andrew Golota x2, Ray Mercer, Kirk Johnson, Shannon Briggs, Ike Ibeabuchi, Oleg Maskaev, Hasim Rahman, Tony Thompson, Samuel Peter, Oliver McCall x2


Sanderline Williams: 24-15 (one late TKO stoppage by Lindell Holmes)

Gone Distance with: Nigel Benn, Gerald McClellan, James Toney, Reggie Johnson, Merqui Sosa,
Iran Barkley.


I know Bennie Briscoe was above journeymen status, but respect to him for going the distance with Hagler and Monzon x2.

We all know it's either Ross Puritty or Marion Wilson.

Guys like Wach, Povetkin, Vitali and such all have either never or barely been knocked down entire careers but these 2 guys above have not only achieved that, they did so in similarly hard hitting times and by suffereing severe beatings for the entire duration of rounds, fight after fight entire career.

The losers iron chin for me trumps the winners iron chin.

Only stopped '5' times in his career of '93-Bouts' and spanning over 7-years. {April 1971 thru August 1978}.

Built like a 'Fire Plug' at 5' 3".

A good guy too.

Reggie Strickland. You may think he got stopped a lot in his career, but look up when they started instituting mandatory 30 and 60 day suspensions for a guy that got stopped. I think reggie was stopped once after that point in time, and by Charles Brewer who was a very good puncher.

Tex Cobb

Tex Cobb was one of the toughest son of a guns ever.
When he fought Larry Holmes for the title in Houston Tx Tex claimed Larry never hurt him once. Tex said to me that he was robbed in that fight . I asked HOW!!!
Tex said at the final bell he turned to referee Steve Crossen & asked him for 3 more rounds. He said he couldn't give them me LOL Tex said Larry couldn't hit him any more his hands hurt to much from beating on Tex's hard head. I thought this was just one of Tex's stories till I bumped into Steve Crossen in Dallas & asked him if it was true. He said Yes indeed Tex asked him for 3 more rounds & I'll knock Holmes out he cant hit me no more. He said Tex was cut & bruised & beaten but he was deadly serious.
If I had to go in a bad part of town & could only take one guy with me Tex would be the guy
