    Default Keith Thurman

I have to be honest I thought Thurman looked pretty good tonight against a good fighter who is difficult to look good against.
He showed good skills to go with his heavy hands , I feel he would stop Khan or Brook , if he lands cleanly enough.
Good fight and well done to the both of them , what are your thoughts ?

Thurman can't fight inside and gets discouraged when he can't KO someone within 8 rounds.

He's too big for this division and is draining himself to make weight.

I'd pick Maidana or another strong pressure fighter to beat him based on his performance tonight.

He is very good, especially early on. When he cannot discourage his opponent though he seems to run out of ideas and retreat into himself somewhat. Maybe that's okay when he has banked early rounds, but you can see he isn't so devastating now that he has stepped up and bit by bit opponents are seeing more that they can work on. Guerrero is really inactive didn't have the ideal prep for a big fight and he has looked a bit off in his last few fights anyway. I detect a little bit of Jermaine Taylor in Thurman. I can see an opponent who can weather the early storm and take his punch cause him serious problems as he is taken deep. Or maybe Thurman will just get better and better, but it's more likely that a wall is hit. Maidana would answer a lot of questions and a Khan fight would be very fun, maybe Bradley too. He's too raw for a super fight at this stage and I want to see him taken deeper first.

I like Thurman and think he is a skilled fighter and could go on to be a champion. I hope he becomes a superstar but I fear he could end up like Berto so I do not want to get too carried away.

I think he has more durability than Berto , and also more power. Guerrero is a good boxer and teak tough , so all in all it was a good performance.

Thurman could definitely stop Brook but I think Amir Khan just has too much boxing skill and speed...having said that however khan would definitely need to watch his chin against Thurman haha

Good fighter and that Guerrero win was a good one. Thurman has to work on consistency throughout the fight and develop a couple of more dimensions/options, but he's a good fighter all the same. Think his size helps him because of his style, so I would advise against moving up in weight right now.

I thought he looked great considering his opponent. In the lead up people were talking about Guerrero like he was a push over, like Thurman was picking him for an easy knockout, and I didn't understand that at all. Guerrero has always been a fantastic fighter and warrior, is southpaw and has never been stopped, so Thurman handled him well. The only other guy to dominate him like that was Floyd.

Thurman has brutal thudding power, but like stated above he does get visibly uncomfortable on the inside and he does get discouraged when he hits a guy hard and they don't go anywhere. Overall Thurman is a fantastic young fighter and one of the top guys at WW, now I'd love to see him go against another one of the division's elite like Khan, Maidana, Brook, Porter, ect. I think a match with JMM would be very interesting and a great test to see what Thurman could work against an elite counter puncher.

Thurman did very well, he took control of the fight, pretty much shutting down Guerrero's efforts.
He did very well against a tough, no nonsense fighter that I like and have a lot of respect for.
When he saw the KO wasn't going to happen, he went to Plan B, and boxed Guerrero's ears off.

He lunges with his punches, throws an uppercut by dropping his hands and raising his chin, and he rarely puts together more than two or three punches at a time. When he does throw his right hand properly he hits pretty good. Guerrero caught him clean a couple times but he didn't seem sharp- didn't move well or punch crisp- at all and mostly let Thurman do what he wanted.
A good live opponent, maybe one in the same weight class, would make him pay for those mistakes. And he has spells where his footwork is utterly random.

I think he's a very good fighter and I think it's time to fight one of the top fighters in the division. Guerrero was a good fight for him, and without getting too carried away, apart from Floyd and Manny, who beats him? I'm not sure there are many, but I know he still relatively inexperienced at that level.
