    Default Terence Crawford- He's special!

Well, I think most posters here would agree that we were pleasantly surprised over the last 2 years with world champion Terence Crawford. Only one word truly defines him, and that he is just a "special" fighter. Has the potential of being that once in a lifetime fighter in his weight division.

Bob Arum has yet again given us a top quality fighter. Say what you will about Arum, he knows how to pick quality fighters. Aside from Mike Alvarado, everyone else in his stable seem to be top notch both skills wise and mental wise.

With that being said, Crawford deserves to be built up into a rivalry with another top Lightweight or Jr. Welterweight in order for us to appreciate his greatness. He must win in order to be considered great.

    Who fits the bill?

Mikey Garcia is moving up. If they continue to build him there are some opportunities for a mega showdown.

Danny Garcia, since he will not step up to take on Keith Thurman at Welter, he most likely will not face Mayweather, and the Pac fight while appealing is not a life defining fight with implications due to the fact that Pac's juice has been spent with Marquez and now with Mayweather, he can accept the fight hype build up.

These are the two foremost names out there, aside from a few other notables, that Crawford deserves to be built up over the next 2 years to a mega fight with a lot of money on the table IF all remains constant and they all win out.

For Mikey it is a possibility. For Danny, it is a little tougher. Crawford can win out, because his back is not as marked yet as Garcia's is.

    Thoughts?

IMO , this guy is gonna be the next big star when Floyd & Manny hang up their gloves. Closely followed by Nicholas Walters.

He is gonna be up there. For sure. I think the next big thing is happening, and that is that guy called Triple G. Triple G is the current big thing. Sorry Andre Ward, but it's a wrap.

Sorry but GGG is too old and easy to hit to be the next anything.

Terence is everything broner should have been. He sells, he's good to watch, he has the respect of the fans and looks like a future star. I don't think he gets truly tested til he hits welterweight

They try to build stars that often turn out to be just hype but in Crawfords case you can't keep true talent down. He was destined for this

He doesn't share the arrogance of floyd or ward so you aren't hoping to see him lose each fight

You're definitely right about GGG , but the reason I mentioned the other 2 was because GGG turns 33 the day after tomorrow , and although he's definitely the man, but for how long? 2-3 year tops IMO .

Excellent post and very close to the way I feel about Crawford.
He doesn't openly disrespect his opponents and seems to be happy they're there so he can show what he can do.
It's refreshing to see a new face who doesn't try to convince everyone he's the best with his mouth.

So to you the stars are the guys that look good fighting lesser fighters. That's sad.

Yes Crawford and GGG look like superstars but to be superstars they need to fight top guys. The sport is about FIGHTS

I agree, it's about fights, but what's GGG supposed to do? Drag guys into the ring to fight him. Anyone in the division who will fight him, he's hammered, and the rest are running scared.
As for Walters, he's just smashed Donaire , surely he's going the right way?
    If not them ,then who?

So stunting Ricky Burns... beating soundly the guy he robbed in Beltran... stunting Breidis Prescott... and then throttling Gamboa is NOT a good starting point?

GGG- beat up Geale, made Rosado cry, embarrassed Macklin, ground to a crawl Stevens, and beat up over 11 rounds the man who really should be the lineal champion in Murray, and has the entire MW division- and Jr. Middle and Super Middle divisions- in fear to even get in the ring with him... is small stuff?

Sure, like I said before, Crawford has to be built into a fight with either Danny or Mikey, but that should come. Particularly with Mikey.

    Don't denigrate his opposition.

He's def a shot in the arm and at the top of my list to watch. He finally seemed to break outta his shell after Gamboa..saw him crack a smile and a joke for the first time . The guy is simply "low key". He is a needed contrast to some today where he actually shows more with his skill and gears than a big mouth and lame catchphrases. I think he tortures Mickey Garcia in one that had been talked about.
