    Default Admitting Defaet

I grew up with boxing. Albeit only in amateur ranks and there seems to be a code, honesty and mutual respect for other fighters I haven't experienced in other sports to the same degree.
That being said, have you ever watched a fight where a gift decision was given and the winning fighter admitted he really lost?
I remember seeing a few fights where I actually thought it was going to happen in the post fight interview but was disapointed by fighters I saw as no bullshit type of guys.
I know some have admitted defeat in hind-site years later but I am talking right afterwards.

I am sure it must have happened before. I won a fight once that I should not have. It was local amateurs so no home town favorites or conspiracy. I just remember not putting the medal on my little shelf I had with the others as I didn't get excited about it as the others. (Not that I had many)

Does anyone know of someone giving the credit to where it belonged after a fight or do you think it is a stupid thing to do at the pro level?

Joe Louis acknowledged it after he received his gift decision over Jersey Joe Walcott. Oscar pretty much admitted it after he was given his draw vs. Felix Sturm. Can't think of anyone else off the top of my head though.

Yep I was going to say Richie Woodhall - proper gent admitting that he though Glenn Catley had done enough to beat him.

Wish Holyfield would have admitted it after Lewis I. Would have respected him much more

    Ray Leonard

After his 2nd Bout with Thomas Hearns.

"Yes, Tommy beat me. I have to give it to him."

"The Draw is really a Loss in my book. I cannot accept the Draw."

Chavez was a bad loser, he was still a legend in my eyes, but would not accept he was beaten by better men.

Senior, he cried like a baby when Oscar stopped him on a cut.

Sr. also whined incessantly after his gift draw vs Sweet Pea. I loved watching Sr. break guys down piece by piece in his prime, but he turned into a bit of a whiner later on in his career. Guy was still an ATG though, no denying that.

My favourite moment was this gem of an interview with Merchant after DLH made him quit on his stool. I love JCC and all but gummon bro, face facts...

George Foreman admitted that he lost every time he lost in his 2nd career. A-class dude.

Still blaming his loss to Smokin' Joe Frazier on '3' white Officials.

Tyson as was decent at admitted defeat. He was forced by his management team to contest his knockout by Buster Douglas (when Tyson knocked down Buster earlier in the fight). He was even humbled after his first loss to Holyfield.
