    Roberto Duran was a notorious party animal who ballooned up between fights even more than Hatton. The great Ray Arcel resorted to actually locking him into his training camps.

    Kirkland Laing was a rasta who loved weed and booze, he could have been a great

    Stanley Ketchell would habitually escape from his camp to shag local women. Ended up being shot and killed by the irate husband of one of his conquests

    Tyson was addicted to drugs and sex for most of his career and certainly didn't dedicate himself to being the best he could be once it all soured on him

    There are a whole pile of blubbery heavyweights who should be ashamed to call themselves athletes

    As a counterbalance, there have also been fighters who were totally dedicated to training ferociously, Marvin Hagler and Rocky Marciano spring to mind. Floyd Mayweather also clearly doesn't cut any corners in training ever.

    The Great John L. Sullivan had to be locked away in training camp because of his love of whiskey

    You know on the surface this may not look right but if you really think about it, especially for those of us that witnessed those times, Jimmy Young.

    Solis had the talent but got so fat his legs gave way during the biggest fight of his life.

    Some good names so far. My list looks like this (in no particular order):
    Riddick Bowe
    Buster Douglas
    Burt Cooper
    Ray Mercer
    Tommy Morrison
    James Toney
    Jesse Furgesson
    Michael Moorer
    Tim Witherspoon
    Jorge Castro
    Jose Luis Lopez (GREAT talent who wasted it smoking dope during the hey day of Oscar, Tito and Quartey).
    Duran
    Bobby Czyz
    Hector Camacho
    Bajado

    Joan Guzman. He could've been one of the best in the world but the guy missed weight so many times that people stopped taking him seriously. Huge waste of talent.

    Tim Witherspoon

    When he wanted to, he could have been one of the best Heavyweights of the 1980's.

    He was talented but not good enough to dominate the division when Holmes and Tyson were ruling the division.

    The Network listed her measurements at ....

    * Weight ....... 122 lbs.
    * Shape ........ 37 ~ 27 ~ 37
    * 'Wonders' .. 'C'

    But as anyone can plainly see, that 'rear-end' was pushing 40+ inches.

    My insiders tell me, that once Lynda Carter got the 'gig', she exploded to near 150 lbs., while expanding her 'Coolie' to 41" wide.

    Johnny Tapia could have been an all time great if he would have stayed away from the cocaine.

    that was more a case of personal demons than a question of dedication though

    Joe Bugner

    Not in the sense of conditioning, but in the sense of >

    He'd rather survive than win.

    Muhammad Ali {1975} >
    "Joe Bugner has all the talent in the world, plus size and durability. But he
    lacks 'desire'. And that cannot be taught."

    "He will be one of these guys, that remains in the Top 5 for 10-years. But will
    never be more than a European Champion. That and .50 Cents, gets you a
    Cup of Coffee."

    "I would put Joe Bugner in a list with other guys who just didn't have the inner-desire."
    * Thad Spencer
    * Roy 'Tiger' Williams
    * Mac Foster
    * Jose Luis Garcia
    * Manuel Ramos

    If "forced" at gunpoint, I would've done her.

    I'll lump Benitez in with Young as part of a group of fighters that although they accomplished much in different ways they both could have done far more but lost the plot.
